Book Description

Sixteen year old Ima Berry (pronounced I’m a) leads anything but a normal life. For starters, the ridiculous name her eccentric dad gave her is always the opening for a good joke. Not to mention the fact he makes his living as a supernatural investigator, which has them moving around every few months. It’s hard to hang out with new friends when she spends all her time trying to prove the existence of Bigfoot, ghosts, fairies and any other number of paranormal creatures. Unfortunately, the cases always end in disaster. That is until now.

On a whim, Ima’s father decides to move them to Point Hope, Alaska. Here, he plans to investigate the possibility of shifters amongst the Inuit tribes. Ima isn't thrilled with the move, until she meets an Inuit guy named Carsen. Not only is he hot, but he’s also a star basketball player, and he’s interested in her. Too bad his best friend, Talon, doesn't like her and takes every opportunity he can to discourage the relationship. Ima has no idea what she’s done to make him mad, but there’s no denying the strange connection between them.

As things grow more serious with Carsen, Ima uncovers a secret about him and some of the residents of Point Hope. A secret that will force her to choose between her father’s already dwindling career and her new found love. And with the knowledge of this secret comes danger…a danger that could cost them their lives.

About the Author

Rebekah Purdy grew up in Michigan, where she spent many late nights armed with a good book and a flashlight. When not hiding at her computer and getting lost in her stories, she enjoys reading, singing, soccer, swimming, football, camping, playing video games and hanging out with her kids. She loves the unexplainable like Bigfoot, the Dogman, and the Loch Ness Monster (lots of good story material)! She admits to still having all the books she bought throughout her childhood and teen years, and she may or may not have an obsession with anything chocolate. Rebekah currently resides in Michigan with her husband, kids, and gazillion pets.

This is a fabulous read! I wasn't sure which of the boys to root for, they were all swoon-worthy. The characters were well-drawn and compelling in the stakes at hand. There wasn't a dull moment in the book, the twists and turns keep you on the edge of the seat. Even the ending made me think: there's more to come in this story. This read will definitely melt your heart!! An author to watch!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down! February 28, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
It is very exciting to see someone you know (and call friend) get published and then having read it I can honestly say "Awesome Job" Rebekah!

I love the main character's name, Ima Blue Berry! Great imagination!

I read the book in one setting. Never a dull moment. It flowed and came together perfectly. I can't wait to read the sequel!

Monster chase scene's, scary ghost scene's, love scene's, break your heart scene's, man's (or I should say Ims's) best friend, single parents, best friends, Alaskan wilderness, eskimoe lore and shifters! Who would think you could throw all of that into one book and it make any sense! lol

I would recommend it to anyone! And I can't wait for the hard copy this one is a keeper!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Ima" lover of this book! February 18, 2011

I have to give props to Rebekah and the easily enjoyable world she's created in My Dad's. It's not easy to pull off a main character by the name of Ima Berry, and she does it without seeming contrived.

This is the perfect just before bed reading. It's light, funny, and I've only read a handful of books where the author can write a hot guy as well as Rebekah. And let me tell ya, there's more than one in this entertaining paranormal romp. I don't mean harlequin hot either. I mean, the girl has some kind of mad talent at giving just enough detail to let your mind create the ultimate boy(s) for your main character to fall in love with.

It's not all mushy though, Ima is a tough girl with a dry wit and she's definitely worth the read.

I recommend My Dad's to anyone that enjoys an effortless paranormal YA.

More About the Author

I was born and raised in Michigan (just look for the giant mitten on the map--it'll likely throw a snowball at you). I spent most of my time in Michigan, but while in the army got to call KS, SC, MO, and CA home for awhile as well.

As a kid my family moved around a lot. Try spending both your freshman and senior years at new schools (yeah, loads of fun). I could've changed my name to "new girl".

I love writing for teens because those are the years I remember falling in love with most of my favorite books. Some of the authors I couldn't put down were L.J. Smith, Christopher Pike, R.L. Stine, Richie Tankersley Cusick, Joan Lowery Nixon, Lois Duncan, amongst several others.

My husband and I have a large family. There are six kids total! So we have LOTS of fun on vacations (although hours on the road, cooped up in the Expedition is kind of stressful--although we pass the time with MAD LIBS and hoping no one gets carsick).

Some fun facts about me:

My first real crush was on Luke Skywalker (LOL--hey, I was like 8 years old and it came out before I was born).

I'm obsessed with several TV shows/Movies: The Vampire Diaries, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Sean of the Dead, The Sing Off, Ghost Hunters, Destination Truth, True Blood, Being Human, Fact or Fake, Haven and all the cake designing ones! Oh and all the spoof movies!

I still own all the books I bought as a kid/teen.

I have a hankering for chocolate (like all the time, seriously. If my arm was made of it I'd chew it off).

Celebrity crushes: Johnny Depp (woohoo), Taylor Lautner (okay, I know he's kind of young for me), Ian Somerhalder (ooh, he's just right. We're the same age). Wow, this was like a Goldie Locks and the Three Bears moment. Johnny Depp too old, Taylor Lautner too young, Ian Somerhalder--JUST RIGHT.

In my spare time I like to write (obviously), read, sing, hang out with my kids, play with my animals, camp, play soccer, check my email (hehehe), watch football (go LIONS). I also love hanging out with my sister and hubby!
