5.0 out of 5 stars NEW YEARS DAY ROCKS, May 18, 2007
This review is from: My Dear (Audio CD)
I have been the biggest fan of New Year's Day ever since their first single came out: "Ready, Aim, Misfire" Once the CD came out I cant stop listening to it, i love them so much, i would highly recommend this to anyone who appreciates good and original music!

4.0 out of 5 stars NEW YEARS EVE....YOU WONT BE SORRY!, December 18, 2007
This review is from: My Dear (Audio CD)
I went to see the band madina lake at a concert just a month ago and look who played with them....New years day!
I remember watching her and the band play with so much heart and loving the sounds of the songs!
I heard of the band but Ive never seen them live before!
so after that I bought their CD off amazon and loved it so much. I was right, my dear, and my sweet unvalentine are my favorite songs by them!
while their songs are kinda on the same subject (breaking up yaddy yadda)
It kicks all it back with a hell of a catchy tune to their songs.
Overall I say buy new years eve and see them at the warp tour. You wont be sorry!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums I've ever heard, August 10, 2007
This review is from: My Dear (Audio CD)
"my dear" hasn't left my cd player since the day I got it. It's different from all the powerpop/punk/rock bands out there. You cant even start to compare them with any other band! They have made there own sound. The lyrics are catchy, some of the lines keep on going in my mind over and over again but they defiantly don't bore me! every time I listen to the album I hear something new. If it isn't Ash's great voice, it's the backing vocals, the guitars, the drums, a line that makes me laugh or gives me chills ... , ... It's a great album and a very talented band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Catchy and Creative, August 9, 2007
This review is from: My Dear (Audio CD)
This cd blows you away from beginning to end. The depth and complex nature of the lyrics combined with lead singer Ash Costello's upbeat, melodic voice gives an interesting new perspective on this genre of rock. The lyrics seem quite pessimistic ("Shoot my cupid out of the sky, break off his wings and gouge out his eyes" "I was just a crutch for your loneliness, your heart was never really there") but with Ash's cheerful tone backing it up, it proves to be more of an F You to love rather then another depressing storybook cd. In a fairly male dominated world of punk/emo, this group shines and is sure to climb the ladder of popularity rapidly, and maybe join the ranks of paramore. Some of the best songs include "I Was Right," which was featured on MTVU, "Ready, Aim, Misfire" which is their most heard song, "You'll Only Make it Worse" which is fastly becoming a crowd favorite and "Brilliant Lies," which is a collaboration with other bands along the lines of Motion City Soundtrack.

4.0 out of 5 stars Catchy yet Falls Short a bit..., July 1, 2007
This review is from: My Dear (Audio CD)
So i found new years Day On Trusty Old [...] After Browsing around and finding my new Favorite Band "paramore"

Well,Their Both In the Same Music Genre and both have female lead singers..ANYWAYS!

The lead chick Of NYD Is Pretty hot which is a plus and the Music is very upbeat and Pop/punk/Rock And The Lead singer's voice isnt BAD...But it Definately falls short.

Its obvious She doesnt have much of a Vocal Range in any of her songs and Her voice can even come off as slightly annoying to me at times...The cd Is great and All...But the lead singer Has Some Growing to Do Vocally....

Overall Its a good CD and i hope by their Second album She will gain a bit more diversity and whatnot.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Dear is HOT!, May 11, 2011
This review is from: My Dear (Audio CD)
Wow! Ok so the first song I found was "I Was Right." I liked it, so I explored more songs. I found, "Ready, Aim, Misfire" and I liked it also. I had money, so I decided to get their album. And boy, I am glad that I did! The vocals, lyrics, music is all wonderful. Great female fronted rockband. They seem a lot like Paramore, and that's a great thing because I LOVE Paramore. Awesome album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can u say "Flying under the radar", December 24, 2009
This review is from: My Dear (Audio CD)
I first Heard of New Years Day
Bye there song "Ready Aim Misfire" which was Licensed and used for THQ's then New Sandbox Action Video Game known as Saints Row!!!!
Which was very smart Marketing for New Years Day........ Since the song was a Major Stand Out Song on the Game

There Freshmen Album "My Dear" is A Must have Album
After spending 2 weeks off and on listening to this CD IMO It's without a Doubt A must Hear Debut offering
Almost every Track could be on ether a Top 40 or Alt. Radio Station
If Sirius XM hasn't got behind them.... They need to
In this day and age of the same old Pop/Rap/Rock Sound Over Produced, Over Modulated and just Plain BAD Sound
"My Dear" is something special and needs much more Attention by both Music Fans and critics

The Band's Line up
Ashley Costello has a Killer Voice and Pulls off being One Stand Out Female Lead singer in a All Male Band!
Russell Dixon is a good drummer.. His work Holds allot of the Songs together
Keith Drover guitar, keyboards, backing vocals Great Guitar work
Adam Lohrbach - bass, backing vocals .....A Great Bass Player
Mike Schoolden - guitar, backing vocals

Stand Out Tracks:
1. "I was Right" ....Great Punk/Pop Rock song The Promo Video adds allot to the song and what's behind it
2. "Ready Aim Misfire" ........This is a Different Version if you put it side by side with The Version That was in Saint Row and Myspace Records Volume 1 (I like the Original Version MUCH Better.... This Version sounds a Bit off missing that Rough Indie Sound! But, it's Still a Great Song!!!!!!!!!!
3."My Dear" ........A Larger Than life song
4. "Part Time Lover" ..........Sounds a bit like a No Doubt Song
5. "Sunrise Sunset" .............Great Lyrics + Plenty of Rock Vocal Power Could be a Single
6. "My Sweet Unvalentine ............Unique Song at times has a Vertical Horizon type sound mix with some Jazz elements
7. "You'll Only Make it Worse" .............Top Ten Pop Sound with allot of vocal harmonize Catchy and Sweet
8. "Brilliant Lies" .............Another Great Pop/Rock Ballad sounds a bit like a Wilson Philips Song!
9. "Temecula Sunrise" ..........Great Vocals,Lyrics, Drums set the whole Tone
10. "Razor" ............... Trent Reznor would dig this Song It's extremely dark But, at the same time has hope behind it
Think NIN with a Dash of Pat Benatar

Any Fan of Rock, and or Pop Needs to Give this CD a Chance
It will Surprise you 9.5/10
