5.0 out of 5 stars very good album!
My Dream by Yvette Michele is very good album and was long awaited since her 1st single came out in '96 or '95. After hearing both of her hot singles, I had to get the album and I wasnt disappointed with it. It's so good!! My personal favorites are: "You Make Me Go Crazy," "Let's Stay Together," "Everyday & Everynight," and "Nothin' Like The First Time." I also noticed...

3.0 out of 5 stars decent cd
Every Night Every Day and I'm Not Feeling You are outstanding songs, but the rest is pretty mediocre. I imagine this cd was popular when it was released, (during the east coast mixtape era) but now it sounds a little over produced. Two aforementioned songs are worth the purchase, though (used of course).

My personal favorites are: "You Make Me Go Crazy," "Let's Stay Together," "Everyday & Everynight," and "Nothin' Like The First Time." I also noticed that the music in "I'm Not Feeling You" sounds very similiar to the music in Lil' Kim's "Big Momma Thang." There are so many good songs on here, but my only complaint is that the radio announcer at one of the end of the songs could've been left out. I thought that ruined it and was a bit annoying. Aside from that, this CD is awesome and a MUST to get!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good debut, December 11, 2003

The only album of Yvette, but she is still there. She just recently sung on
a prominent German rapper's CD. Yvette is also still touring. She was
discovered by Funkmaster Flexx (Blu Cantrell "Hit em up style"-remix), who
also produced the main part of this album. The rest is produced by Full
Force. It's a fine album with good tracks. The hit "I'm not feeling you" is
probably still known to everyone. The other singles "DJ keep playing" and
"Everyday & everynight" are also really catchy. It's a good album for a
relaxed, good mood or party time. Good groovy sounds

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Marriage of Hip Hop and R&B, July 17, 2002
This review is from: My Dream (Audio CD)
This album is definitely a must have. Yvette Michele is the epitome of real underground hip hop soul. Many of the tracks here are produced by Funkmaster Flex, including her smash hit debut "Everyday & Everynight" and her followup singles "I'm Not Feeling You" and "Crazy." The album is worth buying for these three songs alone -- the beats and melodies are totally infectious. I really miss this kind of old school hip hop production style with sampling and scratching. Today's R&B doesn't sound like this anymore.

Although she doesn't have the best vocal skills, Yvette Michele has a cool and sexy voice that's like no other...

I was going through my cd a few weeks ago for something diffeent to listen to. I pulled out this, smoove, the first Mary J Blige, and a few other old HipHop soul cds... This cd has not come out of the deck... Period. Bugsy the announcer was a staple of NY radio and is now on XM Heart and Soul. If you were in the club between 93 and 97, went to after parties and spent your weekends being fly... This is the clssic banger for you. I may buy two or three more just in case I loose one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure 90s r&b, May 31, 2011

I've been an appreciator of the 90s r&b vibe for a while. This album is the epythomy of that sound.

True gems and true floor fillers and grooves you will find in this magnificent album.

Her voice is incredible and the beats are amazing.

If you like the genre then THIS is the album to have .

Loud recording artist Yvette Michele was destined to be the next Mary J. Blige. She had a deeper singing' voice than Mary and she could blow just as good as Mary over hip-hop samples. Making an attempt for hip-hop queen, Mary's longevity title.

Discovered by NY DJ Funkmaster Flex, Yvette Michele wastes no time on MY DREAM. Radio faves like "Everyday & Everynight (Crazy For You Mr. D.J.)", "Crazy", "I'm Not Feeling You" and "D.J. Keep Playing' (Get Your Music On)" rock the house and there's more to groove to. Even a cover of Stephanie Mills classic "Something In The Way You Make Me Feel". Unlike Mary, Yvette Michele doesn't use vocal range, she's pretty laid-back while singin' as if she's givin' no effort. Just goin' through the motions. But her style and the hip-hop sampled tunes produced by Flex, Full Force and others, this album unbelievably blend beautifully.

MY DREAM is not as bad as the critics and sales make it to be. FunkFlex discovered her, a childhood friend from The Bronx, put her on a couple of his mixtapes, she gets signed to Flex executive produces he r album on his label at that time, Loud Records. Yvette Michele may had more to offer after MY DREAM but this album makes a ding (if not a dent) in hip-hop history.

1.0 out of 5 stars I spent $25.00 on this!!, May 27, 1999
This review is from: My Dream (Audio CD)
This was a huge waste of money. I heard one of the songs on a tape at The Gap, so I looked everywhere for a single of the song, because I hate buying albums. This is the reason I hate buying albums - you spend $20 on something, and you only like one song on the whole thing. "Something In The Way You Make Me Feel" is an awesome song. The rest of this stuff belongs in the trash.
