From the Author

A Romantic Times Bookclub Magazine 4 1/2 star TOP PICK!

When Bless Sanderson heads to Atlanta to help out her pregnant sister, she meets the man of her dreams—literally. Rick Jensen is in awe of Bless and something about her keeps her constantly in his thoughts. But Rick harbors secrets that could destroy their budding relationship. He can only hope that when all is revealed, her feelings for him won't change.

Tactfully combining sex and intrigue, Jackson has created an exciting story. Both Bless and Rick are strong, powerful, admirable characters worth rooting for. Bless' relationship with her disgruntled, pregnant sister provides an interesting subplot, and a hint of mystery adds further entertainment.--T.L. Burton

More About the Author

Monica's wanted to write ever since she could hold a pencil. She had surgery in 1994, the longest time off work (as a registered nurse) she'd ever had in her life. She used the time to write her first novel and sold it to Kensington for the Arabesque line in 1995. In 1997, it finally appeared on the shelves. That book MIDNIGHT BLUE, was produced as a BET television movie of the week in 2000. Eight novels and eight novellas and short stories later from that first book, she's now a national bestselling author (says so on the books!).
Obligatory Props

Monica has won awards for her work, and has been nominated for Romantic Times Career Achievement Award. She's appeared in several radio and television appearances and has given workshop presentations. She has done television spots and also has been featured in a People magazine article, unrelated to her writing, but hey, it counts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Living Nightmares, October 8, 2004

This review is from: In My Dreams (Paperback)
Bless Saunderson is a troubled woman haunted by dreams of a baby and a dark stranger. The stranger fills her days and nights with thoughts of lust, love, and passion. The dreams are so real, the residue from their lovemaking lingers after she awakens. The strangest sensation for Bless is, even though she has never physically met this man before, she feels as though there is some sort of connection between them. She is overtaken by a dreadful sense of foreboding, and knows it's time to leave the tiny town of Red Creek, GA and head to the metropolis that is Atlanta. She fears something is wrong with her callous and mean-spirited sister. What Bless discovers once she arrives in Atlanta will shake the core of her spirit.

Rick Jensen, a tough Atlanta cop,is in search of his missing brother, and the search places him in the path of Bless, but it is surrounded by unnatural spirits. Bless and Rick seem drawn to one another, in a surreal way and the passion they share is invigorating and stimulating. In spite of the demonic aura surrounding their persons, they know the power of love and God's grace can conquer anything.

Can Rick and Bless endure? Will good conquer evil? Can love survive demonic forces? Monica Jackson answers these questions and more in her latest novel IN MY DREAMS. This is the most unique Contemporary Romance I have ever read. The presence of evil spirits and vivid dreams made this story a page turner. As I read this story I wondered how bad people could be, but at the same time the raw determination and the pursuit of what's right made me believe that God would always protect us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the right amount of horror and romance!, October 22, 2004
This review is from: In My Dreams (Paperback)
I have to admit, most times I am a genre purist. I like my romance, sci-fi/speculative fiction, and mystery/suspense novels to remain separate but equal. But every once and a while an author comes along and blends two of my favorite genres together with such skill and precision that I put my desire for purity of genre behind and go along for the ride. Monica Jackson is one such author and In My Dreams is one hell of a book. I could not put it down. It gripped me from beginning to end. What I appreciated most about the novel is the way she weaved the history of Africans in America, as well as the cultural elements common to that history and legacy to provide the back drop for a special family of women. The way these women continually relived history reminded me of certain tropes in the Literary fiction of Toni Morrison and Gayle Jones. But of course this is a romance, and the love scenes are hot-hot-hot. And the horror elements will scare the faint of heart. But In My Dreams is worth the temporary fright and will leave readers satisfied.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nicole "Sweet Lady", May 14, 2007

This review is from: In My Dreams (Paperback)
I would suggest any book by Monica Jackson, she is a wonderful writer and has a tendency to widen your imagination by stepping away from the norm and pull you into the other side. The story of Bless and Rick is touching, sweet and anything but normal. I found this to be a good read as I expected it would be, since I truly enjoy anything that Monica Jackson writes.
