3.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre return of Black Panther, May 7, 2007

This review is from: My Eternal Winter (Audio CD)
First of all, I bought this album off the strength of his debut "The Darkest Night Ever!!!" I was a bit disappointed with this sophmore LP, it lacks the gritty feel and raw samples that made his first a classic. Basically, the beats are a major step down and I expect a lot more from him than this, they have a more electronic feel to them, maybe he switched from using an SP to using Fruity Loops? Either that or maybe he was just trying to appeal more to the commercial market. The lyricism featured by the various emcees and female vocalists is on point, but again the beats just don't hold up. Although it does have it's moments: "All Falls Down" echoes the style of his first LP, "Your Mine" featuring the highly skilled Shabam Sadeeq and that killer sample, ultimately a mediocre album at best.
