Holy Thor! #6 in Series Woman Viking!, October 14, 2004
Classic Hill here. But this time she took a Viking WOMAN warrior who is 6 feet and athletic with no qualms about telling the men to take a hike and is in charge of her own army as the heroine. Wow...I am impressed.
She is rude and crude and even scratches...parts at times, but Tyra, Warrior Princess is very aware she is a woman. Especially when she spies dear Adam the Healer.
Adam from the 5 previous books in the series has been a funny and sexy secondary character, but now he meets his match in Tyra.
Adam is a healer, trained by Rain and Selik (main characters from 'The Outlaw Viking'-2nd book in series) and runs his own orphanage, but has taken a vow of celebacy since the tragic death of his only family, his sister Adela. He wants nothing more to do with the healing arts and is furious when this Viking woman warrior kidnaps him and takes him to the Norse Lands to heal her dying father, the King.
What begins as anger and fury, turns into curiosity and attraction for Adam. Tyra is a fierce and different woman who may be capable of changing his mind about medicine and life. Maybe he can start over? But who could start a life with a woman who lops off heads of men? I mean really?
Tyra on the other hand is used to men ignoring her and when Adam, this gorgeous god from the Saxon lands seems extremely attracted to her she is dumbfounded. What in the world does he see in HER? She's too big, too loud, too obnoxious and too manly. All the maids are drooling after him including her sisters and he is looking at HER! Hmmm, maybe she should flirt? No, she already made a bargain with the randy Saxon, to sleep one ngiht with him if he saves her father and if he dies? Then she lets him go. No sleeping...she can't decide if she is sorry or glad.
This is trademark Hill Humor. Ms. Hill makes Tyra very insecure as a woman, but turns her into a very strong and vital vixen for Adam. I loved it! All the secondary characters from the other books are here and funny as ever, especially Tykir from 'The Bewitched Viking' and Bolthor the World's Worst Scald. We are also introduced to a new character here, Adam's assistant, Rashid, who is obsessed with getting Adam a harem and possibly asking Tyra, the man-woman to be the first houri, lol.
The antics and scrapes are all classic Hill and funny as ever and IMO, one of her best. I never thought she could be funnier, but she always gets me :D

If you love Sandra Hill's Vikings...read on..., April 9, 2002
We have watched waif/orphan Adam grow since we met him in "The Outlaw Viking". Now 30, he is a Physician, well-trained in the Eastlands...he has lost his beloved sister, Adele, to the Plague and cannot forgive his inability to save her. For two years, his harem-brained friend, Rashad, has tried to draw Adam out of his self-imposed reclusive, and celebate, lifestyle with little success. Along comes Viking/Amazonian Warrior/Princess Tyra, who needs his medical expertise to aid her Father, the King, who has been injured in battle. Adam refuses, claiming he no longer practises medicine. She picks him up, throws him over her shoulder ,unwilling though he is, hauls him off to her her Father's bedside. These "opposites" are somewhat attracted to one another and they wager for further familiarity contingent on if the King lives or dies. Tyra has four sisters who cannot marry until she, the oldest, does...each of them extraordinarily gifted and eager to wed...and she is determined not to marry, thinking herself too big and not beautiful. Adam, on the other hand, is turned-on by her muscular and skilled Viking attributes. Enter our old friends, Adam's Step-uncle Tykir, his wife Alinor, and all their children (from "The Bewitched Viking)and the romp begins! What with Adam's family and Tyra's family,a few endearing Orphans, our old friend, Bolthor (the funny & talentless skald)...all determined on the match, our Hero and Heroine don't have a chance. From the very first book in the Sandra Hill's Viking Series, her stories are all about "family" and the love and support(or interference, as the case may be!)that family brings...sometimes wanted, sometimes unwanted, but always funny and heartwarming. You will like this book but you really must read them all. I, personally, miss the time-travel aspect of the first two books, but that would be my only disappointment.

Another Keeper, April 14, 2002
If you are a fan of Sandra's Viking Stories, you will not be dissapointed! Once again we visit with our viking friends, and learn that Adam is now a full fledge Physician, living a life of a hermit, in mourning over the deaths of his sister, and step parents. That is until a certain Viking princess, invades his castle, lops him over the head with her broadsword, and carries him off to heal her ailing father. The funs begins! A comical, but sensitive story of a reluctant warrior to ever become a wife, and a talented physician who has lost his confidence and the people who change their lives. I loved this story and could not put this book down...can't wait for another...How about it SH...perhaps a story involving one of Adam and Tyra's children travelling to the future? The possibilites are endless!
