5.0 out of 5 stars Holy Thor! #6 in Series Woman Viking!
Classic Hill here. But this time she took a Viking WOMAN warrior who is 6 feet and athletic with no qualms about telling the men to take a hike and is in charge of her own army as the heroine. Wow...I am impressed.
She is rude and crude and even scratches...parts at times, but Tyra, Warrior Princess is very aware she is a woman. Especially when she spies dear...

2.0 out of 5 stars My Fair Viking
I normally love anything Sandra Hill writes, but this time I was so disappointed. Usually she writes "laugh out loud" humour and steamy love stories. This just didn't get it. Hopefully her next book will be up to her usual standards.

Especially when she spies dear Adam the Healer.
Adam from the 5 previous books in the series has been a funny and sexy secondary character, but now he meets his match in Tyra.
Adam is a healer, trained by Rain and Selik (main characters from 'The Outlaw Viking'-2nd book in series) and runs his own orphanage, but has taken a vow of celebacy since the tragic death of his only family, his sister Adela. He wants nothing more to do with the healing arts and is furious when this Viking woman warrior kidnaps him and takes him to the Norse Lands to heal her dying father, the King.
What begins as anger and fury, turns into curiosity and attraction for Adam. Tyra is a fierce and different woman who may be capable of changing his mind about medicine and life. Maybe he can start over? But who could start a life with a woman who lops off heads of men? I mean really?

Tyra on the other hand is used to men ignoring her and when Adam, this gorgeous god from the Saxon lands seems extremely attracted to her she is dumbfounded. What in the world does he see in HER? She's too big, too loud, too obnoxious and too manly. All the maids are drooling after him including her sisters and he is looking at HER! Hmmm, maybe she should flirt? No, she already made a bargain with the randy Saxon, to sleep one ngiht with him if he saves her father and if he dies? Then she lets him go. No sleeping...she can't decide if she is sorry or glad.

This is trademark Hill Humor. Ms. Hill makes Tyra very insecure as a woman, but turns her into a very strong and vital vixen for Adam. I loved it! All the secondary characters from the other books are here and funny as ever, especially Tykir from 'The Bewitched Viking' and Bolthor the World's Worst Scald. We are also introduced to a new character here, Adam's assistant, Rashid, who is obsessed with getting Adam a harem and possibly asking Tyra, the man-woman to be the first houri, lol.
The antics and scrapes are all classic Hill and funny as ever and IMO, one of her best. I never thought she could be funnier, but she always gets me :D

1. The Reluctant Viking 2. The Outlaw Viking 3. The Tarnished Lady 4. The Bewitched Viking 5. The Blue Viking 6. MY FAIR VIKING 7. A Tale of Two Vikings

5.0 out of 5 stars If you love Sandra Hill's Vikings...read on..., April 9, 2002

We have watched waif/orphan Adam grow since we met him in "The Outlaw Viking". Now 30, he is a Physician, well-trained in the Eastlands...he has lost his beloved sister, Adele, to the Plague and cannot forgive his inability to save her. For two years, his harem-brained friend, Rashad, has tried to draw Adam out of his self-imposed reclusive, and celebate, lifestyle with little success. Along comes Viking/Amazonian Warrior/Princess Tyra, who needs his medical expertise to aid her Father, the King, who has been injured in battle. Adam refuses, claiming he no longer practises medicine. She picks him up, throws him over her shoulder ,unwilling though he is, hauls him off to her her Father's bedside. These "opposites" are somewhat attracted to one another and they wager for further familiarity contingent on if the King lives or dies. Tyra has four sisters who cannot marry until she, the oldest, does...each of them extraordinarily gifted and eager to wed...and she is determined not to marry, thinking herself too big and not beautiful. Adam, on the other hand, is turned-on by her muscular and skilled Viking attributes. Enter our old friends, Adam's Step-uncle Tykir, his wife Alinor, and all their children (from "The Bewitched Viking)and the romp begins! What with Adam's family and Tyra's family,a few endearing Orphans, our old friend, Bolthor (the funny & talentless skald)...all determined on the match, our Hero and Heroine don't have a chance. From the very first book in the Sandra Hill's Viking Series, her stories are all about "family" and the love and support(or interference, as the case may be!)that family brings...sometimes wanted, sometimes unwanted, but always funny and heartwarming. You will like this book but you really must read them all. I, personally, miss the time-travel aspect of the first two books, but that would be my only disappointment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Keeper, April 14, 2002

If you are a fan of Sandra's Viking Stories, you will not be dissapointed! Once again we visit with our viking friends, and learn that Adam is now a full fledge Physician, living a life of a hermit, in mourning over the deaths of his sister, and step parents. That is until a certain Viking princess, invades his castle, lops him over the head with her broadsword, and carries him off to heal her ailing father. The funs begins! A comical, but sensitive story of a reluctant warrior to ever become a wife, and a talented physician who has lost his confidence and the people who change their lives. I loved this story and could not put this book down...can't wait for another...How about it SH...perhaps a story involving one of Adam and Tyra's children travelling to the future? The possibilites are endless!

4.0 out of 5 stars I loved it!, May 19, 2002
This review is from: My Fair Viking (Mass Market Paperback)
I love this author! Her books are filled with tons of humor, tenderness, passion and excitment. I love how they are tied in with each other and yet can stand alone by themselves.

This is Adam's story. He is the adopted son of Rain and Selik. He is a healer who has lost the desire to heal. A great tragedy has made him into a hermit for the last two years. That is is until a Viking Warrior Goddess shows up at his home and kidnaps him. She litteraly picks him up and carries him off to save her father. Tyra, is a tall, big warrior princess who needs Adam to save her father. Tyra thinks she is to manish to be wed and needs her father to be alive so that she can divorse herself from the family so that her younger and pretty sisters can marry.

Adam is very unwilling at first to try and save her father but soon the desire to heal overrides his arguments. He decides though that the lovely warrior princess must pay for his services. She agrees and is thrilled(secretly) that he finds her attractive but can't quite beleive it. Adam too is having trouble coming to terms with his desire for the too big, too loud, too stubborn Tyra.

When these two finally get together they creat fire with thier passions. but unfortuantely its not to be a long burn. Obsticales stand in their way and two very stubborn people must overcome their problems in order to have a life together.

I enjoyed this book so much I couldn't put it down. I laughed, cried and felt happy at the end. The secondary characters are wonderful and I'd love to read a book about some of them, Hint, Hint! We get to find out what has happened to some old favorites which I always love to hear about.

I hope Sandra Hill continues to write more in this series, they are wonderful.

This is the story of the Physician Adam, and his love for the sword-swinging Viking woman Tyra. What I liked most about this novel, is it is told primarily from the male POV, and is quite hilarious.

By no means is this a serious book, it nevertheless amusing, romantic and sweet all in one!

Hill manages to make the role-reversal quite believable. Adam is 'smitten' by Tyra, despite the fact that she abducts him from his crumbling castle at swordpoint. Tyra is a tough woman, who scarcely believes Adam may love her or that she is loveable.

A great read when you are in the mood for a funny and charming romance with a bit of a twist. I wish there were more books like this!

Hot, exciting, sexy and adventurous. I'd recommend this book to anyone that seeks wildness in life and a chuckle or two. Have to love a book that holds both humorous tatics as well as a "want more" sexiness.

Customers and fellow reviewers:

I actually enjoyed this book. I've read others of Sandra Hill and was vastly disappointed by them, but this was excellent.

One question though...why is Tyra wearing nail polish on the cover?

4.0 out of 5 stars gender bender, April 12, 2002
This review is from: My Fair Viking (Mass Market Paperback)
Viking warrior Tyra is bigger than most men and can outfight many too. In fact she acts more manly than most males do. However, when her father in injured, Tyra vows to return home with the best healer available.

She and her men visit physician Adam the Healer, but he insists he is retired and refuses to accompany Tyra back to her father. As he watches her men take bets making her an overwhelming favorite, Tyra knocks Adam out, tosses him on her shoulder, and leaves. To his chagrin, Adam is very attracted to the amazon though he would prefer to bar her scratching habits. He agrees to try to save the life of her father if she sleeps with him. Her sisters notice the lure between Adam and Tyra and play matchmaker hoping to marry off their older sister so they can find spouses too. Her men want a gentler Viking leader hem into battle help. However, Tyra has other plans leaving a frustrated suitor to heal his own heart as he fails at his quest of becoming the warrior's spouse.

Sandra Hill, known for her Viking tales, provides a gender bender novel starring a literally strong warrior heroine though her beloved is bigger and taller; as audacious as this might sound for romance novels, this seems wrong for this plot. The story line is action packed and loaded with the customary humor expected from Ms. Hill with the secondary characters furbishing much of the amusement with their desperate measures to make Tyra a wife. Fans of Viking tales will relish the uniqueness of MY FAIR VIKING.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book to read in one sitting, May 3, 2002
This review is from: My Fair Viking (Mass Market Paperback)
Adam The Healer is a healer no more after the death of his sister Adela who he could not save he knows that medicine is no longer what he desires. He leaves to Saxon lands there with his friend/servant Rashid he sits alone. As they are sitting arguing about Rashids need for a harem Vikings descend on his sanctuary.

A big beatutiful Viking in particular. Tyra has come to bring Adam to the aid of her father. Adam does not want to go and ends up being kidnapped by Tyra. On the boat he discovers that although Tyra tries to project herself as masculine she has a femine quality that is there beneath the surface. Soon they make a deal if he saves her father she will spend one night in his bed furs. She agrees and is a bit taken aback at his interest in her. Most men are interested in her dainty sisters. In fact the reason that her sisters haven't married is because she must marry first.

When they reach the palace and Adam starts seducing Tyra something he can't help. He makes her fell like a woman and starts to show her all the pleasure he has learned. Even though Tyra is enjoying Adam she is determined to leave her fathers keep as soon as he gets better so that her sisters can marry. Unbeknownest to them however everyone is plotting to get the Healer and the Viking together! A story with lot's of laughs, a great cast of characters and Lots a sensuality it makes you want to go find a viking. A must for any romance fan especially fans of Sandra Hill!

5.0 out of 5 stars Vikings have never been this fun before!, May 11, 2002

This review is from: My Fair Viking (Mass Market Paperback)
Sandra Hill is written another eletrifying tale brimming with humor and romance. In this edition to the Viking Saga, Adam, a famed Saxon healer, is at a low point. He won't practice medicine and he's given up on women. His friend Rashid tries everything to pull him out of his slump, but then fate steps in. Tyra, a fierce viking warrior, arrives to fetch him so he can save the life of her father.
The attraction between them is sudden and powerful, but Adam refuses to budge on his position that he's no longer a healer. Tyra is left with no choice but to "convince" him to help her meaning she thwacks him with her sword, tosses him over her shoulder, and sails to Norway... with Adam tied to the mast of her ship.
This marks the beginning of a passionate, sweet, humorous tale. It never takes itself seriously and its bizarre humor provides many laugh out loud moments.
The supporting characters are a delight. While simplistic, the plot is original. Like all of Sandra Hill's viking novels, this one's going in my reread pile. Highly recommended.
