5.0 out of 5 stars Touching movie, coming of age with a twist or two...
I'm a real Gérard Depardieu fan and I enjoyed this movie a lot.

To be cursed with a beautiful daughter, and all the wonderful things that can happen as you have to let her go and grow... well, it's tough. I've got three daughters and man, is it ever a difficult thing.

There's real love and affection in here, even though the daughter attempts to reject all that...

3.0 out of 5 stars not bad
A cute movie of a young girl coming of age. Unfortunately, director Steve Minor exploits young 14 year old actress Katherine Heigl in several scenes. For instance with a close up of her walking in a thong swimsuit at the pool and later while kissing her crush a shot of the wind blowing katherine's skirt up to reveal the teen in a pair of grey thong panties. Parents...

I'm a real Gérard Depardieu fan and I enjoyed this movie a lot.

To be cursed with a beautiful daughter, and all the wonderful things that can happen as you have to let her go and grow... well, it's tough. I've got three daughters and man, is it ever a difficult thing.

There's real love and affection in here, even though the daughter attempts to reject all that her father has to offer... eventually there is a meeting of minds, even though there's plenty of misperceptions and 'stories' that get told by the daughter...

"He's my lover", not my dad is where this gets to be hysterical... and to hear Gérard Depardieu sing that old show tune about loving little girls... well, it's hysterical.

His overreactions, her fabrications, the warmth and love amidst the utter humor of it all.

A whole family movie or better yet, a date movie.

Worth watching repeatedly. Well worth buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Movie!, December 26, 2001

This is the best movie ever! When I first saw it I was only eight years old. But it has come to be one of my all time favorites. Being from a small town, I've noticed that very few people have even HEARD of this movie, which is why I believe its necessary to share this review with everyone. I am 15 now and can personalize with many of the things Nikki goes through in the movie. I can not even begin to say enough great things about it. It is most definitely a must see!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!!!!, August 27, 2001
This is a refreshing, cute, and funny family comedy which triuphs as a true original. Gérard Depardieu is hilarious as the clueless French father of a rebellious 14 year old brat. I never knew he was so good at comedy! Katherine Heigl is excellent in the role of his daughter, but acts and looks like a 17 year old, not a 14 year old, which is why this movie is so funny!

5.0 out of 5 stars A film you can just watch over and over again!, April 2, 1999
By A Customer
I've seen this movie about 20 times now and I still go back for more. It's about this teenage girl who is facing adulthood and when she takes a trip with her father (Gerard Depardieu) to the Carribean, she falls in love for the first time with a local boy (Dalton James). In a desperate attempt to impress him, she spins a tale of how her father is her lover. A great movie, thumbs up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable! Sweet! Hilarious!, September 1, 2005
Fourteen year old Nicole's parents are divorced and her French father, Andre, is taking her on a tropical vacation to the Bahamas. Reluctantly, Nikki leaves her mother in New York City for the ten day getaway. She is at the height of her adolescence and she's anything but excited to be in a place that is filled with "old people" as she puts it to her father. While there, she meets seventeen year old Ben, and she's instantly infatuated with him. Wanting to impress her crush, Nikki tells him that she is slightly older than she actually is, and that her father is not her dad, but her boyfriend! Nikki persuades her father into going along with the whole charade, and soon enough, the entire resort finds out and they are absolutely repulsed by the fact that a man of Andre's age has such a young "girlfriend." Hilarious situations and a number of laughs make this movie a winner. One of my all time favorites.

This movie is great! I've loved it since it came out and I was little (I was 7 then and I'm 15 now). Not only is the story good in itslef, but I love movies in a tropical setting--they're fun to watch!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly a "Hero" movie to watch!, March 7, 1999
By A Customer
Everyone has a father, some they like, some they don't appreciate, like the 14 year old teen in the movie. A basic story of a girl who does not want to spend the time with her father in an exotic vacation area, where anyone would be grateful. She becomes grateful as she falls in love, but at the same time, she claims to be her father's woman to impress people, only to get him embarassed. The father and girl soon realize each other for who they are, and help each other out on this funny, exotic, wacky, vacation. So spend your money on this movie, the best vacation you will see on your bigscreen!

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny, Sexy...great!, November 14, 1999
By A Customer
Father takes his gourgeous teenage daughter on an exotic trip which turns out a bit more exotic then he planned... Jerard Depardieu's character is, as always, somewhat awkward and naive but very kind-hearted father. Katherine Heigl is a sexy, delicious young New York girl who blooms and blossoms in the tropical sun... Great fun for all family!
