5.0 out of 5 stars My First Favorite Album
It's hard to believe that way back in 1988 this was my favorite album. It still holds a dear place in my heart today. The main theme of the album is a growing understanding of God's greatness and mercy ("Faith Walkin' People," "You Were There," "There Will Never Be Another") and a yearning to follow Him even more ("Father's Eyes,"...

3.0 out of 5 stars Some nice songs, but undeveloped voice
There are lots of nice songs on this album: "There will never be another", "Always the winner", "All that I need is You", etc...and it always makes me think about my relationship with God. But, her voice in this album is not developed; she does not sound like the way she does today (by the way, her voice starts to sound like a "pop...

This is one moving collection of songs and definitely worth a listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Father's Eyes her second album, February 16, 2003

Amy Grants second album should have been part of the first album but I believe she wanted to savor the moments of her music by taking her time and releasing it separately. My father's Eyes reminds me of her first album. It's so beatiful her voice is still the same never changes even til today. Her songs are so uplifting and spiritually moving. I definitely recommend this album and her first album as well. But not to forget the other albums she did after this one are also something to brag about. In other words I recommend her other albums as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars At a time of great need!, April 22, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: My Father's Eyes (Audio CD)
In 1983 my mother was injured in a car accident and I had to travel to be with her it was very very serious and I was full of fear. I had the tape of this CD at the time and I listened to it over and over and over again to keep me going in a time of great need. My friends say I am over sensitive this music helped me more than they could know.

5.0 out of 5 stars Found Again, July 25, 2005
This review is from: My Father's Eyes (Audio CD)
Amy Grant has long been a favourite of mine. The tape of 'My Father's Eyes' was played so often that it wore out. I am extremely grateful to have found her again in CD format. I would recommend this CD to anyone who wants to hear beautiful Christian music.

4.0 out of 5 stars well done amy, January 29, 2002

For her age at the time of recording this was an excellant piece of music. Grant's voice is like melting butter, something which has changed through her career and become more versatile. Grant writes beautifully straight from the fathers heart. Songs like 'lay down' strike chords in me that take me closer to God. 'oh sacred heart' written may years previously was impeccable recorded by only the grace of God as Grant describes, He provided the thunderstorm at 3am, they provided the vocals. Well done to Amy, the albums that followed only get better!

This is when Amy Grant's voice was like an angel, I like her now of course but I liked her better 20 years ago. I guess I am getting old; this cd makes me remember good days.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some nice songs, but undeveloped voice, August 27, 2001

There are lots of nice songs on this album: "There will never be another", "Always the winner", "All that I need is You", etc...and it always makes me think about my relationship with God. But, her voice in this album is not developed; she does not sound like the way she does today (by the way, her voice starts to sound like a "pop singer" starting from her "Straight Ahead" album). I still recommend this album for her fans because she does, once again, have some nice songs in it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Early Grant album shows promise but doesn't quite get there, December 24, 1999
This review is from: My Father's Eyes (Audio CD)
Most of the songs on this album are forgettable, but it's worth getting for "Father's Eyes" and "Faith Walkin' People," which are closer to Grant's usual standard. "O Sacred Head" is an interesting track--Grant and her two sisters singing Bach in a cappella harmony, punctuated at appropriate (and unplanned) moments by rolls of thunder. These are pretty much the only songs on the album that stand up to repeated listenings, but Grant's fresh, clear young voice helps the others considerably. Not bad for a teenager surreptitiously making an album as a surprise for her parents while studying full-time at college.

5.0 out of 5 stars Her best CD!, June 23, 2010

The music on this CD is absolutely beautiful! Her best work, even compared to her secular music. Why she left Christian music, I'll never know, because I feel it was definitely her calling. I love every single song on this CD, and all song are very inspiring. A must have for Christian women!

4.0 out of 5 stars I think the Father liked "My Father's Eyes", October 26, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: My Father's Eyes (Audio CD)
Amy Grant's second release, MY FATHER'S EYES, became one of her best known albums. It spawned Amy her first #1 hit ("Father's Eyes"), and sold over 95,000 copies. Which was pretty good for a Christian artist in 1979. I personally like the words in "Father's Eyes" (And when I'm called to stand and tell just what you saw in me/More than anything I know/I want your words to be/She's got her Father's Eyes). It gives Amy Grant a sense of innocence. My favorites on this CD are "You Were There", "Giggle", and "Never Give You Up". Throughout the early '80s, MY FATHER'S EYES was labeled as one of the most popular albums in Christian history. Then in 1982, AGE TO AGE took the spotlight from this album. But overall, it's a pretty good album.
