This book will tell you so much about his life before he became a radio announcer, so much about his life after Bonanza and everything else in between.

I recently finished reading 'My Father's voice', the biography of Lorne Greene written by his daughter Linda Greene Bennett. If you are a Lorne Greene fan this book is an absolute MUST for you. I thought I knew quite a lot about this man but discovered I hadn't even scratched the surface! I just wish I had had the opportunity to meet him. Linda obviously loved her father dearly and this comes across in the book. I laughed and I cried but loved it totally.
Even if you are not a particular fan of Mr. Greene it is still worth reading about this hard-working, intelligent, humorous, wonderful person, and WHAT a life he had!!

Linda Greene Bennett has written a most loving, absolutely fascinating and truly insightful book about her very famous father. Her style is excellent and this is one of those "can't put down" books.

Lorne was "The Great Voice of Canada" and "Ben Cartwright" of Bonanza fame. This book will tell you so much about his life before he became a radio announcer, so much about his life after Bonanza and everything else in between. The many rare photos are an excellent inclusion which enhance the book, especially as they are very appropriately selected.

Lorne has always been one of my very favourite actors and by the end of this book I felt that I "knew" him even better and liked him even more.

One of the finest biographies I have ever read.

I very much enjoyed reading this book. It reminds me how "Stars" are seen by the public, when in fact they are still just human after all. Mr. Greene was quite a man, very ambitious, talented, funny and warm. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys the work of this man, as I do.

As a long time Bonanza fan, I was excited to read this book. Linda has a way with words, and by the first few pages, she had me sitting beside her, crying along with her as she relived hearing her father's voice on the cassette tapes Lorne had made, with the intention of his autobiography. Sadly it was never made, but this is the next best thing. She is honest and genuine in her story-telling. I only wish I could have told her how much I enjoyed her book. It's personal, and heart-touching, funny, and enlightening, a good read.

Even if you're not a Bonanza fan, I think you will enjoy "My Father's Voice" I thought the title was due do Lorne Greene's distinguished booming voice, when in truth it had more to do with the fact he had recorded his thoughts on tape for many years in the hopes to write his own story but never got around to it. This book is written by his daughter after his death as she listens to those very tapes and writes a heartfelt tribute to her father. What an amazing adventure he had right up until he became Ben "Pa" Cartwright on Bonanza and also named the second best TV father of all time.
