I recently finished reading 'My Father's voice', the biography of Lorne Greene written by his daughter Linda Greene Bennett. If you are a Lorne Greene fan this book is an absolute MUST for you. I thought I knew quite a lot about this man but discovered I hadn't even scratched the surface! I just wish I had had the opportunity to meet him. Linda obviously loved her father dearly and this comes across in the book. I laughed and I cried but loved it totally.
Even if you are not a particular fan of Mr. Greene it is still worth reading about this hard-working, intelligent, humorous, wonderful person, and WHAT a life he had!!

I very much enjoyed reading this book. It reminds me how "Stars" are seen by the public, when in fact they are still just human after all. Mr. Greene was quite a man, very ambitious, talented, funny and warm. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys the work of this man, as I do.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Tribute to a Magnificent Man, February 21, 2009

This review is from: My Father's Voice: The Biography of Lorne Greene (Paperback)
Linda Greene Bennett has written a most loving, absolutely fascinating and truly insightful book about her very famous father. Her style is excellent and this is one of those "can't put down" books.

Lorne was "The Great Voice of Canada" and "Ben Cartwright" of Bonanza fame. This book will tell you so much about his life before he became a radio announcer, so much about his life after Bonanza and everything else in between. The many rare photos are an excellent inclusion which enhance the book, especially as they are very appropriately selected.

Lorne has always been one of my very favourite actors and by the end of this book I felt that I "knew" him even better and liked him even more.

One of the finest biographies I have ever read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Darn good book..., September 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a very interesting, well written book. I find
myself engrossed in it; Lorne's daughter was able to use
recorded interview tapes that were made by Lorne Greene with
a writer that he was planning to write his autobiography with,
but it was never finished. So this biography is quite authentic
because it comes directly from Lorne Greene's own words;
that's why it's called "My Father's Voice".

I like the stories about his childhood and early acting career
because it makes his life more dimensional that just thinking
of him as Ben Cartwright. I loved Bonanza ! It was great
television and he was wonderful in that role. But it is also
interesting to read about his earlier theatrical experience
in Canada, as well as his announcing days for CBC, using
that wonderful deep voice we all know and love.

Darn good book. I can't put it down...
