My Favorite Martian: The Complete Third Season

I live in Australia and believe it or not, we are apparently the first country in the world to have My Favorite Martian - the Third Series (and the FIRST shot in colour) available. It boasts that on the cover but don't worry my American friends - it is in your NTSC TV system - and is ALL region so your players will have no region problems.

I was sweating off to buy a season or My Favorite Martian because I wanted it in colour and kept checking Amazon but no go. Found the set a while back at the local Target but it is around in plenty of other stores here (JB Hifi for example). Full price here in OZ is AUS$69 (about US$60) which is pretty expensive but I managed to buy it for AUS$55 which is still steep but I really wanted it.

Enough of that. What about it.

Well I love it. It is the complete 3rd series (32 episodes) and as an extra includes the orignal unaired pilot episode (1963 BW). It is great to see how Uncle Martian came to end up with Tim.

I'm not going to go on about each episode as I haven't quite finished it all yet but this set from Umbrella comes on 6 dual layer single sided discs and the other extras are:

Behind the scenes home movies with Pamela Britton (Mrs Brown)

Interviews with Stan Frazen (Editor) Ted Rich (editor) James Husley (Art Director) and Wayne Stam (Actor - not sure who he played). There is a commentary on one episode (Go West Young Martian). A Stills gallery and a few other bits.

Total running time approx 883 mins.

I did notice the quality vary a little between episodes. It looks like one may have had to be sourced from a later generation print but apart from that one (so far) the transfers are sharp and clean.

If you like "Martian" then get it as soon as it is available.

I ordered this 3rd season of My Favorite Martian from Australia in November, 2007 for $53 (American dollars) including shipping, and it has turned out to be great. The single sided discs are in a plastic multipack, as opposed to the cardboard packages that held the 3 Rhino double sided discs for each of seasons 1 and 2. With the exception of one episode featuring Yvonne "Batgirl" Craig, which, though full length, appears to be from a faded 16mm print, the episodes are very clear, unedited, and have good sound.

For those who are wondering... I received my copy yesterday and this IS the AUSTRALIAN import from Umbrella Entertainment. It is REGION FREE and in NTSC FORMAT - in other words it will play in ALL US DVD players! It is has 6 discs (no double sided ones here) in a AMARAY style case with a great 3D cover! I have not had a chance to watch it yet, but I know there were alot of questions about this product and I just wanted to clear them up.
The real title is "The Complete Third SERIES" In Full Colour rather than "Season". I hope this helps.

More than anything, seeing this set finally become available is great news for those of us who bought the first two seasons of "My Favorite Martian" from Rhino several years back...and then waited, and waited, and waited for the third (and final) season that never came.

The first thing to know about this set is that it doesn't come from Rhino, but rather from an Australian company, Umbrella. When it became clear that Rhino was never going to release the final season, Jack Chertok Productions (producer and owner of the the show) worked with Umbrella to produce and release this set in Australia -- but in a format that could be re-imported into the US. As a result, we not only get all 32 episodes of the final season, but we get to see the extras that Rhino didn't see fit to include in the previous seasons.

For those who enjoyed this show (and probably already own the first two seasons), this set is well worth buying. It's a better quality set by far than what Rhino released (no syndication edits or jumpy video) and has some nice extras. And most importantly, it's fun to watch -- there's an innocensce behind the humor in "My Favorite Martian" that is nice to see, and a pleasant change from the mean-spiritness of so many newer programs.

Finally! The third and final season of My Favorite Martian! For those of us that have been waiting a long time, this now completes the entire series. This DVD set is fantastic! Not only for the episodes themselves, but also the extras. The episodes look great. Some don't look as good as others but they're still of very good quality. The extras are worth the price alone. Home movies from Pamela Britton ( Mrs. Brown ) and Billy Blackburn who also had home movies for the Star Trek DVDs. Wonderful to watch the behind the scenes banter ( there's no sound ) of the actors and the way the sets actually looked. In one part, if you look closely, you can actually see a crew member walking towards Ray Walston with the antennae apparatus they used to make his antennaes go up and down. There's also interviews with producers and the actor Wayne Stam, who played Martin's martian nephew Andromeda in the final ( in production ) episode. Stam's interview is very interesting about the actors and even mentions a fun blooper to look for in that episode. This highly recommended DVD set will please any My Favorite Martian fan and complete the series for all of us that have waited so long for this. Thank you Amazon and Umbrella Entertainment!

Probably the second funniest of the "fantasy comedies" of the 60s, after "Jeannie", too bad this was the final season, because nothing was lost in the transition from B&W to color; would have loved to see another season of this series.

Rest In Peace, Ray Walston, Bill Bixby and Pamela Britton.....

My Favorite Martian was one of my favorites when I was a kid. It`s still a good comedy today. I still got plenty of laughs out of
it 45 years later.
It was the first of what I call the Impossible Comedies, like I Dream of Jeanie, The Munsters, and Bewitched. And the impossibility
of the whole idea of these shows just made them all the more funny. After all, how long would you be able to stay reasonably sane
having a martian for a room mate and hiding a spaceship in your garage from a nosey landlady?
It`s not the best tv comedy that was made, but it`s far better than any of the gunk you find on tv these days. So pop some popcorn
and let Bill Bixby and Ray Walston entertain you with impossible antics and lots of laughs.

If you are lucky enough to have MY FAVORITE MARTIAN season 1 and 2, then season 3 makes your set complete. Well worth the investment if you love these old classic shows that Hollywood seems to forgot how to make......

This is one of my favorite shows. The first two seasons were excellent and the DVD's of them are great including graphics & finding your favorite episodes. However, this third season was not done by Rhino as the others were and therefore, has poor graphics and the way this inferior company put it together is quite annoying. Also, being the only season filmed in color, I feel that this final season loses its charm. I had hoped that Rhino would do the third season also but for some unknown reason chose not to and it is indeed, a shame.

No one is going to pay 2OO do11ars for this third season DVD set.

It must be some idiot who thinks we are all rich and stupid. I think Amaz0n needs to cut this seller loose for Flagrant gouging and should be permanently avoided on any future purchases. You can see what kind of se11er we are dealing with when they pull gouging like this with only 42 total ratings.....

This "T0tallyC0llectible" must be some new idiot with an attitude or some X-gn hood sitting in his garage or basement business trying to gouge us... who, either way, has no business being a se11er on Amaz0n if this is how they do business. We can see what kind of cr00k this one is going to be when they gouge like this after only 42 customers. Hopefully, the customers will avoid this one like the plague and they will pay for this a thousand times over in all the future sa1es they will lose.

BEWARE of this one. Everyone should be able to see by this what kind of cr00k this dea1er will turn out to be when they start off with no conscience about the price or integrity. I shudder to think what other bad experiences will come from this source.

It doesn't matter whether the season three DVD's were hand painted in color and flown in a spacecraft to the door. No season of any show, from any region, no matter how rare is worth this outrageous price. We have plenty of popular series and rare sets which I've had to buy overseas in different region codes. Some which were in B&W and color but you don't see them pulling something like this. No one charges a price like this for any season of a show. Just avoid this se11er if you run across them again... because this one has no conscience or scrupples.

And remember, if anyone tries to shout down someone who is warning customers about a bad dea1 or gouging... they not doing it for your welfare, they are doing it for their own sake and are usually connected to the se11er. This is a shopping website and a forum for warning other customers about bad dea1s. This price is about as bad as they could get.
