Hot Paranormal Read, December 30, 2008
This review is from: My Favorite Phantom (Paperback)
Have you ever met a ghost?? Neither had Professor Peyton Cache, until he purchased the old Victorian house. Now he has a resident ghost which he needs to get rid of before he has a dinner party which has a lot at stake. What better way than hire ghost hunters or so Peyton thought.
This is the premise of Karen Kelley's latest release. The story has a hot steamy romance weaved with humor, all the elements that we have learned is Karen's distinctive style of writing.
Kaci Melton is a ghost hunter, in business with her Dad. She knows how to hunt them and get rid of them, but there is one BIG problem - ghosts scare her. This ghost is more aggressive than others - it wants Kaci for itself - what's a girl to do!! Get protection?? Who ends up protecting who here?
This is a fun romp for the reader. Peyton and Kaci come from different worlds, but the explosive feelings are hot and steamy and know no boundaries. But when secrets are revealed can they be overcome. Will the jealous ghost win in the end as it gets more aggressive. Then there is the father who brings more problems. All elements to keep the reader holding their breath one minute and laughing out loud the next.
The book is a delightful read, with lots of paranormal aspects tied into a steamy romance. I enjoyed this book and am sure that it is one not to be missed. I look forward to reading more of Karen's books in the future, a writer whose star is only getting brighter, and one worth watching.

More than a Ghostly Love Story, June 16, 2009
This review is from: My Favorite Phantom (Paperback)
I enjoyed reading My Favorite Phantom. I wouldn't say that it was a page turner I just couldn't put down, but it was definitely worth reading. The writing style was easy to follow; the dialog and actions of the characters were believable (well, maybe not the ectoplasm). Overall, I would recommend it to any fans of paranormal romance.
My Favorite Phantom has a dash of suspense and a blossoming love; throw in a mischievous ghost and a loan shark and you have one heck of a tale! It is definitely much more than just a ghostly love story...

Fun contemporary romance, February 28, 2009
This review is from: My Favorite Phantom (Paperback)
Kaci Melton's father is a ghost hunter, but because he is hiding out from a loan shark, she has taken his most recent job. The only drawback is that Kaci is terrified of ghosts and Professor Peyton Cache has a very active one that he wants gone. When Peyton's resident ghost makes an appearance on the first night of Kaci's investigation and she scurries into his bed for safety, things immediately heat up between them. Trouble is, Peyton isn't the only one who finds Kaci adorable, and soon his ghost takes a fancy to her as well. Between the irresistible, dirty talking Peyton, his pesky, determined ghost, and a loan shark who is getting too close for comfort, Kaci is confused and more than a little harried.
Peyton is vying for a sizable grant and his opposition is a co-worker who is a scheming phony who criticizes Peyton's every move - with a fake British accent nonetheless. The obstacles in Peyton's way are beginning to loom rather large. He realizes Kaci's fears, the ghost amps up his activity out of an attraction to her, and he's very concerned about the dinner he's hosting for the grant committee. He doubts he can endear himself to his guests with a ghost in the house who has a penchant for tossing his underwear across the room. On top of all of that are the feelings that he's quickly developing for Kaci. Interestingly enough, those feelings are quickly taking precedence over everything else that is going on in his life.
If you're looking for a lighthearted read that doesn't skimp on sensuality, I highly recommend MY FAVORITE PHANTOM. Karen Kelley never disappoints, always giving readers quality romance that's fun without being ridiculous or silly.
