4.0 out of 5 stars Love this, but i wish it had more songs... September 9, 2002
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is an excelent remix EP. I elected not to buy Transelvanion Regurgitations because it was too rock. This EP goes right to the house fan in me. Tho not exactly house the remixes are a little more electronic/trance-ish. I like all the remixes, and Sweetwater Kill is my fav song from the album. Problem is, State Fair was only so so for me. I really wish more songs had been slated for remixing.
The remixes are absolutely great **ESPECIALLY** the "tweaker ambient remix" of State Fair. It takes all the harshness out of state fair and makes it almost a haunting, yet positive melody.
If you liked "Cabin Fever", get this. It's worth it, especially for the great price.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Fever Has Broken August 30, 2002
Format:Audio CD
This is the second EP I bought by Rasputina (the first being Transylvanian Regurgitations) and I'm so happy to see that they successfully did it again. It's strange to believe that remixes of three girls playing cellos can sound so good.
The first track, At the State Fair with a White Trash Sucker is a remix of a song off their new album, Cabin Fever, and the best track on the album. Behind that is the State Fair's Tweaker Remix by Chris Vrenna, who co-produced Rasputina's album How We Quit the Forest, as well as remixed some previous songs.
But if you're sick of remixes, the EP also includes AntiqueHighHeelRedDollShoes, a track off their new album, and a cover of Belle & Sebastion's Fox in the Snow.
Now go buy it now! It even contains a video of them playing My Orphanage live!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great maxi single, industrial September 15, 2004
Format:Audio CD
I came across the 'State Fair Tweaker Remix' when I was doing some homework on Tweaker's remixes (which are almost always 4 star or 5 star work) and this track on this album is no exception. Liking that song so much I wanted to hear his 2nd "ambient" mix along with Rasputina's work. This maxi single was a great buy, the songs are really interesting and Tweaker's remix work is outstanding.

1. At the State Fair with a White Trash Sucker - a really great industrial song remix. Complex and interesting composition and great vocal work from the female singer of Rasputina. This remix alone makes the CD worth it's purchase.

2. Sweet Water Kill - Somewhat laid back synthy feel good track. The vocals have some echo to them and give a very trippy feeling, almost something you would expect from the best style that Cocteau Twins have to offer. Another track that makes this maxi stellar.

3. State Fair (Tweaker Mix) - Another great take on the State Fair track. This time with Tweaker's classic industrial guitar work. Good drive in this song with dark overtones and the strings really add a lot of depth to the quality of this remix.

4. Antique High Heel Red Doll Shoes - Kind of speedy with uninteresting, heavily filtered guitar work. The singing is outright annoying and I can say this track is really bad. So bizarre that quality control would let this out when the rest of this maxi is so 5 star material.

5. Deep in the Sweet Water - Starts out with some great string work and a muted beat. Another track that makes me wonder how I missed out on Rasputina for all these years, great!

6. The Fox in the Snow - Great string orchestra type work but it sounds like the singer needs to work on her high notes a little bit.

1.0 out of 5 stars SKIP May 6, 2014
Format:Audio CD
Remix's, covers, and alternative versions of songs that no one really needs unless they're a completest.
There's not one single thing I like on this and I've been a big Rasputina fan from the get go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable! April 21, 2004
Format:Audio CD
I know that 'adorable' is an odd way to describe music but that was the first thing that came to my mind. Melora's sweet voice and enertaining lyrics are complemented by the remixes. It definitely has a Victorian feel, and Sweet Water and State Fair are an excellent song pairing. This is one of the best 25 minutes that you will spend listening to music. Considering the price, this cd is well worth the money.
