Editorial Reviews

From the Author

This story came about as a writing model for my 2nd grade class.  I was showing them how to take an exisitng story and change it to make it their own.  I wrote this story in front of them and then decided to put in on writing.com so that I could use it again the following year to teach with.  At that site, people could read what I wrote.  Some said I should try to get it published.  I looked for a publisher and a few months later, I had a contract sitting at my door.  It has been a great experience.  My goal is for teachers to use it in class and for students to learn from it as well as enjoy it.  I have lesson plan ideas on my website. judichesshir.tateauthor.com/ .  A 2nd grade teacher shared the book and audio with her class.  Later she noticed that the students were "playing" my story at recess.  How cute is that!

From the Back Cover

Once upon a time, there were three little dolphins living with their mother. The time had finally arrived for them to go out on their own, and they were very excited. Each would build his home in the deep, blue sea, but they had to choose wisely or face the big, mean, hungry shark.  Join the underwater adventure of My Finny Fin Fin, a delightful spin on The Three Little Pigs, and find out where each dolphin builds his home.  Judi Cheshir is an elementary school teacher.  She is married to her husband, Steve, and has two children, Stevie and Connor.

In "My Finny, Fin, Fin", Judi Chesshir tells a fun story of three little dolphins and their quest to live on their own. The pictures add a lot to the story too making it all that much more enjoyable. Listening to the audio e-Live download while I read the story was truly charming. The shark's voice was great! Children will just eat this story up!

My Finny Fin Fin is must read for your little one! Author Judi Chesshir truly captured the gentle tug of the deep blue sea with this adventurous tale of three young dolphins venturing beyond the safety of their family and home. The story is well written, easy to follow, kept my interest, and lured me to want to know more. An important lesson is expertly woven into the story that your child will surely recognize. I listened to the audio while reading and felt that it was a wonderful addition to an already good story. The shark's voice added character and will certainly cause a stir among a young audience. All in all, My Finny Fin Fin is a winner and I highly recommend this book to any reader, young or young at heart.

I loved this book and so do my grandchilden. It is a brand new take on The Three Little Pigs and so creative. The illustrations are adorable and it is a book that is fun to read aloud as well as for those who can read it themselves. The author has done a superb job of bringing this fearsome shark to life and the lessons learned by the little dolphins does not go unnoticed. This is a great book for one and all and sure to be around for many years to come.

I bought this book, My Finny Fin Fin, because a co-worker wrote it. I've known the author for 11 years, and I knew it would be a fantastic book! I have some of the students in my class this year that she originally wrote the book with. They all received a personal copy from her, and I couldn't wait to get my own! It's a wonderful book that won't disappoint you. The illustrations are fantastic, also, and I hope Judi will write another book in the future. In the meantime, I will keep this book in my classroom for all my students to enjoy! No classroom should be without a copy!

My Finny Fin Fin is such a fun read for little ones. Taking them deep into the ocean to see a story unfold for three little dolphins as they leave home and out on their own. The audio file that accompanies the book takes it to a new level with the scary voice of the shark. The author has done an exceptional job of putting a new spin on an old favorite and will be enjoyed by all for a long time to come!

You see a lot of reinventing of old stories, but none that compare to Judi Chesshir's book, My Finny Fin Fin. The classic tale of the Three Little Pigs has come back to life in the ocean, with a new twist on the little pigs, dolphins! And it's not a big, bad wolf that's after the dolphins, but a huge shark. The three little dolphins have set out to find a new home, each having their own idea of what the home should look like. But, shark equals trouble for these three. Find out what happens in this great tale. Vivid pictures, along with the narration that you can download, makes this book a wonderful read for both a child and and adult. Very cute and fun! I highly recommend it for any child.

Judi Chesshir puts a whole new spin on the tale of The Three Little Pigs with her book My Finny Fin Fin. Three dolphin brothers each attempt to choose a good home, but only one chooses wisely and survives being eaten by the Big Bad Shark. Beautifully written, and beautifully illustrated, this book is a must have for all those in love with children's fairy tales. An added bonus is the free audio version with purchase. The narration is superb and adds additional dimension to an already fabulous book.
