I do like this app... a lot... for everything it does right: excellent and clear pronunciation, beautiful pictures, and ease of use. I am certain my young children will learn from this app (which is saying a lot since they haven't learned from me and I used to teach it to kids their age, 4 and 6 year). It would work well for kids much younger even, say 1 year on up assuming you're comfortable with a child that young playing with your device. Speaking of device, I'm running this on a Kindle Fire. I know nothing of how well it would work on a phone or anything else.

Now, the reason for 4 vs. 5 stars... There does not seem to be a way to select categories. The first picture is of "perro" (a dog) and many other household, farm, and zoo animals follow. Then, if I recall correctly, body parts and clothing follow. After that came foods. I didn't continue. Instead I went looking to see how I could start the lineup with whatever category I choose but never found it. I don't know how long my kids will last if the always have to start with animals, body parts, and so on to get to what they really want to learn or if they have the attention span or what amount of patience it will take to realize all the different words to learn from this app. Only time will tell I guess. Nevertheless, I might be able to help them stay interested/focussed... but that means I have to pay attention, too... and, well, I admit sometimes I use my KF to entertain them when I HAVE to be busy. So who knows how much help I'll really be.

I like the fact the letter and the sound is included. I also like the picture word included with the letter and the sound. As a teacher in preschool too many people think if the child knows the letter they know the abc's. The sound the letter makes is important as that is how they learn to read.

My speech delayed two yr old would destroy flashcards, but this is 5 items per charter and 85 % relevant to a 2 yr old, ukelele and zucchini not withstanding, but she loves it.Airplane rappers, a female voice says "airplane" clearly, then a fingerswipe moves us to acorn.Really expanded my daughter's vocabulary and even her speech pathologist likes it.
