I was so psyched when I found out that one of my kid's favorite authors had done a book on Ramadan. (Thank you Karen Katz!) I was even more excited when I received the book. The illustrations are wonderful and whimsical. Ms. Katz has done an excellent job portraying life for a typical Muslim child. I especially enjoyed how she represented how multicultural a typical mosque in the US is. That's one of the wonderful things about being Muslim in the US--you are reminded every day that Muslims are not just of Arab origin. :) I know this will become a family favorite. Too bad it isn't on sturdy board stock like our other favorite Katz books. :)

It's really the first time that I post a review anywhere. This book is a beauty for all little muslims. My 4 year old loves it. I like the fact that it reflects ramadan in general without being specific to a culture.
We love Karen's books but this one has a special place in our heart and our bookcase. Outstanding job!

My son received this book as a gift during Ramadan, when he was only 2 years old. He'd been watching his parents fast, so it was a great way to explain what was happening, and to relate with our family. He loved it so much and it helped him understand in better detail what we were doing. I liked it so much I bought a copy for his two cousins, one 3 years old and one 7 years old. They liked it enough to take it to school with them - and it helped their friends understand what Ramadan was all about.
My son particularly liked the part about eating dates, eating while sitting on the floor, and praying in the mosque.

Very nice and tender book about the value of fasting. American Muslims should be donating such books to all elementary libraries. What a great way to let young readers know about other cultures and traditions.

This book is outstanding! I am in love with it and so are my two little ones (4 and 2). Such beautiful and vibrant illustrations and simple writing- another great one by Katz! I've purchased too many of these to count as gifts. Thank you Ms. Katz!!!

I was looking for books to share with the local schools about Islam and Muslims. This is a wonderful resource for younger children. I will definitely buy more in the future!

Raising an Arab-American Muslim son is hard work in Kentucky! I've bought a lot of books off of international and Muslim websites for him because I want him to be able to relate to his books. Some of these books, however, are of very low quality either in binding, or illustrations, or sometimes even text.
This book, however, mirrors my son's actual experiences AND is high quality! I gave it to him at the beginning of Ramadan last summer and couldn't have more things to say about it. I think it's a great introduction to Ramadan for little Muslims and non-Muslims who have Muslims in their classes at school/daycare, etc.

This is a great book/resource for teachers and parents to teach about a Muslim holiday, Ramadan to little children. My boys and I loved it!

I was happy to see this book from Karen Katz, its a good introduction into Ramadan, although its missing a lot of "fun" for kids info, she did a good research, and have presented Ramdan well, I read it to my daughter, and like all other Karen Katz books we've read, we both loved it.
