Ms. Story's selection of material showcases her ability to plumb the emotional depths of a song and the technical facility with which she goes about her task. This collection of repertoire sets a standard against which other pop pianists must measure their arrangements and their interpretations. Never settling for the commonplace, Ms. Story continually finds imaginative, creative and musically sophisticated ways to reinterpret these generally familiar tunes. This is a collection that can be listened to repeatedly and always offers new rewards. Put a log on the fire, pour some wine, embrace someone you love and enjoy.

Don't know much about music (also don't know much about the french I took), but I think the "wrong notes" referred to in one review are actually classy music stuff like diminished 5ths and augmented 7ths and other things I wish I knew more about. When I am in a philosophic mode I rant on about how she creates harmonic beauty out of dissonance, but mostly I just wallow in the sound.

I love this CD (as well as the Liz Story CD she cut with Joel De Bartelo). I always played it when I was correcting papers ... it added at least 5 points to every paper I read. In a way this is just like calming a cranky baby.

I'd likely give this CD a 4* rating but feel the need to 'counteract' the absolutely ridiculous 1* rating of one of the reviewers, who couldn't believe his eyes (doubt that he has any EARS!) - this is an enjoyable mellow piano album of standards - not really jazz playing, but the kind of mood one might desire in a lounge late @ night w/ someone special (after a great dinner), and sipping on a nice drink, like champagne - if that is the mood you like, then this disc is quite enjoyable!

I bought this album a number of years ago and was enamored of its slow & melodic pace, the crispness of the piano, and the way it seemed to curl up inside my brain. I could never help but feel relaxed while listening. Peppered with older standards and some not-so-recognizeable material, it is a wispy dream taken musical form. And the best part - my 4-month old daughter falls to sleep within 5 minutes of my putting it on, no matter how cranky she is. Highly recommended for anyone with a fussy baby.

The CD was delivered on time and for the price and in the condition promised. I am completely satisfied with my purchase.

What an uplifting event this cd has been. It is guaranteed to put you on cloud nine. This is the kind of jazz that I truly like. It is very easy to follow. The improvision is not to far off base. Liz definetly has the talent to entertain you. She has a good touch with the piano.

The only draw back about this cd, is the fact that I didn't like all the repertoire that was performed. Some of the songs I had never heard of before. Other than that, I think this is a cd that most will enjoy.

I Would Like To Recommend This CD

I couldn't believe my eyes when I heard this CD. The title track is the worst I ever heard. There's no single right key in this playing. I felt asleep after 2 minutes.

Even in a late night bar people should kill her.
