4.0 out of 5 stars The editor needed to take a closer look!
Jez Alborough writes three wonderful books about a little boy named Eddie and the friend he makes in a giant brown bear. My son loves these books. I would give this book 5 stars except that half way through the book Eddie's name changes to Eddy. The book's editor must have missed it before the book went to print. Anyway, for a book aimed at young readers, having a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Just Okay...
Maybe it's just me, but I think this book is not that great. Like the other reviewer stated, the names change from Eddie and Freddie to Eddy and Freddy halfway through the book. I kept looking back to see if I had missed something.

Also, we had previously bought the book Where's My Teddy and loved it, which is why I also purchased this book. The...

Anyway, for a book aimed at young readers, having a name change half way into the book can be quite confusing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your kids will love it!, June 18, 2000
This review is from: My Friend Bear (Eddy & the Bear) (Hardcover)
My 3 year old loves the bear stories. In this story, the boy Eddie gets trapped behind the Bear's huge teddy bear. He pretends he is the huge teddy by speaking back to the real bear who is sad. The two become friends. My son laughs everytime we read this. It is a complement to the other bear book by the author, in which Eddie is left out in the woods with the Bear while his mother runs back home to fetch an item for their picnic. This is a wonderful read. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have!, March 15, 2000
This review is from: My Friend Bear (Eddy & the Bear) (Hardcover)
This is a delightful, relational story. It's cleverly written, and beautifully illustrated, and one that became our favorite imediately! This is a book that I have shared with friends and often give as a present. I cannot say enough about this book (or author)!

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful rhyming story about making friends, January 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: My Friend Bear (Eddy & the Bear) (Hardcover)
this is a great story about making friends. It teaches children about compassion, and love. It is also just a whole lot of fun, Especially if you read the other two stories: Where's my Teddy and It's the Bear. My kids love them!

5.0 out of 5 stars teaches with humor, February 4, 2003
This book, just like the first "Where's My Teddy?" book, teaches with humor. The illustrations are really eye-catching and this story teaches parents and children about the importance of having friends. We love it.

This is our second Bear book by Jez Alborough and we just love the rhyming, and the great pictures. My son regularly asks to read this book.

The illustrations in that book were amazing, but in this book look a little off. Especially the character of Eddie--he just doesn't look as cute as in the previous book.

I don't mean to be nitpicking, because I did like the story and rhyming, but the other details just bothered me.

My kids have three of Jez Alborough's books. They absolutely love the bear. I think the stories are well written and funny. We read at least one bear book every night!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this book!, October 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a very sweet story about making a new friend, appropriate for young children up to about first grade. I use it in my class and send it home with a stuffed bear for the weekend. Bear has a journal and my students read the book and write in the journal about what they did over the weekend with Bear. They love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yet another great series from the author of HUG., August 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My twin granddaughters love "Hug" and I bought "Yes" and "Tall" too which have become stock favorites. Looking for more from the author, I read several Amazon reviews of the three Bear books by Jez Alborough and wondered if they would be too advanced for the girls (20months) but went ahead and bought them. They love them! They love Eddie, his teddy, Freddie and the sad lonely bear who has nobody to play with. How much they understand, I confess I have no idea but they bring My Friend Bear and the two other books about Eddie to me several times a day. They give me a chance to ham it up with silly voices and the girls drink it up.

Kudos to the author and a request to keep the stories coming. We are waiting.
