Excellent read.. this book drew me in the first couple of pages. I haven't finished a book in about 10 years. This book was so smooth to read and really peeked my interest. Lots of action and movement that kept me wanting to read on. This book is great to read if you are unsure of your faith or just feel the need to recenter on Jesus and focus on what is really important in your life. This book also helped me understand a lot of Bible verses that can sometimes be very confusing. The author puts them in great context so that they are relatable to your everyday life. If you haven't read this book yet..it is a MUST READ.

This was one of the most enjoyable books I've read in a long time. Before reading this book I was at a place in my life where I needed to draw closer to the truth and to the Lord. This book by Mr. Lombardo allowed me to do just that. Though the storyline is fictional, "My Friend Jesus" addresses many pertinent issues that we deal with daily in our world: faith, sin, persecution, human and individual weaknesses, death, false Christianity, and even a little romance, all with a fresh, imaginative style writing which captured my attention within the first few pages and kept me wanting to read his book until the very last page. The storyline is easy to follow and causes you to feel like you are present with Cephas, the main character, as he has a personal encounter with The Good Shepherd for the entire day. I loved that the author so seamlessly incorporates pertinent Scripture and Bible stories throughout the story and flavored his writing with the perfect amount of humor and wit. There are parts in this treasure of a book where I laughed and others where I was moved to tears. The entire plot of meeting Jesus is extremely thought-provoking and left me thinking days and weeks after I read the book. I can see this book would be most helpful for those who are on the fence about Christianity. Thank you Mr. Lombardo for a most enjoyable and meaningful read. I can't wait for more books by this author!

In "My Friend Jesus," Cephas confronts religion - eyeball to eyeball just as Jesus did in the gospels. The story takes place in the town of Kidron where Cephas, who was formerly a practicing psychologist, has an amazing encounter with a wise Shepard who has lost his sheep.

The author was very creative and has a very unique writing style. I liked how he used scripture and presented them in the storyline. It is written in a way that helps readers understand the biblical view on sinners, salvation, faith, Satan, Heaven and Hell. I felt like the character's conversations were very realistic and I found myself laughing in some places and was moved to tears in others.

If you're on the fence and still searching for answers, just maybe "My Friend Jesus" will help you understand to make that life changing decision. This could be the novel that could change your life!

Highly recommend!

I found the logic used in this book to be convoluted and hard to follow. The content may be offensive to some readers with strong religious convictions.

Imagine you were out walking in nature and met a man tending sheep. Imagine that this shepard was actually Jesus. What would you do if he asked you to help him find his lost sheep? In this imaginative and completely fictitious story, a man named Cephas has such an experience. He not only meets a man he thinks is Jesus, he spends the day with him and faces numerous challenges.

Gary Lombardo has a very unique way of writing a novel. He not only speaks to the reader he also includes possible reader comments. Through this book he also addresses cultural maladies and explains his disillusionment with modern psychology. His clear thinking and insight is refreshing to read. In this story he has masterfully woven biblical stories, Bible verses, imaginative conversations with Jesus and situations in which Cephas' faith is tested. There is even a little romance when Cephas meets his ex-wife in a chance encounter. Or is Jesus responsible for them meeting again?

I truly enjoyed this story and can recommend it to believers and unbelievers. Gary Lombardo is a talented writer who easily draws you into the story and keeps your attention until the very last page. There are also some funny parts of the story that made me laugh out loud.

MY FRIEND JESUS is the story of one man's unusual encounter with 'Jesus' in the flesh. It is classed as fiction, but because of the allegorical nature of the story, it almost comes off more like a devotional book, with a lot of scripture references and lots of 'teachable moments' that are meant to explain the basic tenents of the Christian faith. Mr. Lombardo's writing style is quite beautiful - very elegant and eloquent, which is something that I appreciated about the book. However, the story line itself sometimes dragged for me. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying I didn't like it, since I certainly see the merit in the book if a peaceful, lulling allegory is what you are after. When reading fiction for pleasure, however, I prefer a gripping story with more action and intrigue. This is not a book that I was able to read in one sitting. It was better taken in small portions, where I could then ponder the 'lesson', so to speak. For those reasons, I have given the book three stars. MY FRIEND JESUS might be just the book for you if you want a thought provoking, pastoral view of Christianity.
