Good Drama,

Excellent cast. Wonderful acting. Lee Da Hae pulled off the comedic scenes nicely, and everyone else within the drama also did a very good job. From the get-go I was immersed into the story of what is "My Girl". The plotline is your typical drama, with quarreling, jealously, lovers left and right and whatnot, but this is a must see if you are a fan of any of the actors. Being rated as one of the top ten dramas in Korea in 2006, I can see why this has made it up there. Check it out and I am assured you shall be pleased. Read plently of summaries, reviews; get a feel for this drama and you'll fall in love with it.

Good Korean Drama,
This review is from: My Girl (DVD)
I really liked this Drama;however, when I put in my 8th Disc, It messed up. The episode would automatically play, and the "English" subtitles were in Korean or Chinese. Other than that, everything was great! It came really fast.
This series is really great. I recommend it for anyone.

My Favorite KDrama So Far,
By
This review is from: My Girl (DVD)
This was the first KDrama that I finished, and I have to admit that the first episode didn't draw me in but I persisted and I am so glad that I did. I LOVE this KDrama.. even more than Full House. It's a cute drama filled with laughter and poignant moments. The characters are all great in their roles. The best part is that nobody dies in this drama. I always hate when the main character dies from some illness...

Best Korean Comedy Drama,

Must watch! Great acting, refreshingly unpredictable script, witty lines, lots of laugh out loud moments, as well as many heart-moving scenes. I've watched a lot of Korean dramas but "My Girl" is still my favorite. Plus, it introduced me to actor Lee Jun Ki, a versatile likable actor. Check him out in "Iljimae".

I would recommend this series if you are a fan of KDrama's. The reason I am giving it 3 out of 5 is because it is like so many of the other KDrama's... Korean series tend to make women look silly , weak and overeaters.. Also, Kdrama's tend to make it seem like a crime if a woman wants to have a career, maybe that's a cultural thing but I dont get it. Also, A woman may start out strong but she ends up weak and dependent.. It's rare in a KDrama to see a woman be triumphant on her own and be strong from beginning to end.. Out of 20 Kdramas i have seen so far the closet i have ever seen to a strong woman througout was in the series "Cinderella's Sister" and " Boys over Flowers, (Loved the latter).. This series i'm afraid is very typical, nothing to original and the ending is what you would expect.. So if you like Kdrama's this is for you... I keep watching them because they are sooo addictive!!!

Probably my favorite Korean Drama series (sorry Coffee Prince),

I have to say, the casting in the 4 major roles was perfect, especially "My Girl" Lee Da Hae. She can make you laugh, cry, and everything in between during the course of the storyline. Which brings me to my second point, the storyline is one of the few where I felt was perfectly paced, and the twists and turns made sense and at the right time. Most of the recent dramas I've been watching have been super slow in some parts and then have a rushed ending, but My Girl does a great job not getting bogged down in a stupid side story. The music is quite good, if you search the internet, I'm sure you can find a copy of the OST available for download.

Another really entertaining K-series, five stars and more. HOWEVER---it's not worth this current big price. I paid less than 1/2 the price and still got an excellent copy with good English subtitles. This particular copy (with this picture) has good subtitles---(it is from a U.S. distributer).
Also, like most Kfilms, this one just gets better and better after the first disc. The story is really entertaining, with no lag or drag times, the colors in this series are beautiful, Lee Dong-Wook is very handsome, Lee Jun Ki is amazingly pretty, and Lee Da Hae is the most beautiful Korean actress I've seen yet, with Shin Min Ah, second.

Good Beginning...,

I don't know if you've noticed but some of these Korean Dramas start out with so much promise and then just fizzle up and die at the end... this was one of them. The heartbreak part dragged on and on and honestly it didn't make enough sense for me and so I started to loathe the grandpa and got sick of everyone. I think when you invest over 16 hours into a movie viewing, you should be satisfied with the end most of all. I wasn't.

Great show but kinda pricey,

I have to admit this was a great show. But is it worth $115? The photo of the box is a trick. It's not that thick. You get a thinner slip case with 2 DVD boxes in it. Look at the customer photos for a true view of the package.

Award winning actress Lee Da-hae plays Joo Yu-rin, a drifter and streetwise tour guide. Her language skills get her in the stead of a hotel executive Gong-chan (Lee Dong-wook) who needs her to use all her other skills to save his dying grandfather.
As the story unfolds, a love triangle emerges while Yu-rin must also look after her own deadbeat dad. There are several side stories involving people in Gong-chan's family and also friends of Yu-rin which were quite enjoyable. Enough cannot be said about the acting performance by actress Lee Da-hae. She was simply brilliant and I believe she did in fact win an award for this series. What guy would not want to marry her after watching this? Her performance was on par with that of Song Hye-gyo from Full House. The series spans 16 episodes and does a pretty good job at not being too repetitive. It does however have many moments of silliness and wasted time on scenes that might look cute on the drawing board, but should have been left on the cutting room floor. That extra time would have been better spent on some of supporting characters and their situations. Yu-rins best friends brother becomes interested in Gong-chans secretary and I would have loved to see that relationship given more time and perhaps interwoven into the main story line somehow. There was also a battle going on between the two elder ladies that was well done, but I wanted more. Eventually we reached the critical point in the series and the tissue box started to empty quickly.....THEN.....in what could have been a heartfelt clinching series of events near the final act, turned out instead to resemble an obsession. Watching the male lead pursue Yu-rin after she was spotted, made me feel uncomfortable and it also spoiled the mood that had been setup so well earlier. It was not necessary and besides, we already had someone else pursuing her out of some type of strange lust, do we really need two half-crazy obsessed men? Of the Korean dramas I have seen so far, when the women pursues the man it resembles a work of art, but when it's the mans turn, sometimes it feels like stalking. I think one of the problems is that the makers of the series are trying to get a certain number of episodes, instead of it just proceeding naturally as it should. Despite these setbacks, the final act itself was delivered very nicely, and if you do not cry then you are not human. My recommendation is that this series is worth a purchase, rental or however you can see it. It has its flaws, but with Lee Da-haes performance and the high tear-jerker factor, you will enjoy the journey. After watching it you might even shed a little tear every time you see it snow. |
