Excellent Way to Teach Savings,
By
This review is from: My Giving Bank: 3 Banks in 1 (Misc. Supplies)
I was looking to a savings tool that would teach my 3 year old to save the money she was receiving. I went over to a friends house who was teaching her son to save short-term and then also for tithing. She was using plastic containers. I checked on amazon and found My Giving Bank that also had long-term savings all in one. My daughter loves it. My husband comes home and gives his change to her and she puts money in all three sections. When grandma comes over to give her money, we pull out her giving bank and she now knows exactly what to do. When we go to church, she takes the money out of the church section and she puts it in the tithing basket. She loves it and she feels apart of the tithing process. We have not taken any money out of the other sections yet. I want to wait until she is old enough to ask for things she wants at the store. I highly recommend this as a way to teach finacial responsibility.

I have heard wonderful things about this giving bank and finally decided to implement it with my 5 year old daughter and 2 year old son. Obviously the 2 year old is a little young for the concept, but I drew up a chore chart and at the end of the week they each get $3.00 and each dollar goes into the separate banks. I explained each bank and my 5 year old cannot wait to give her money to "those who don't have any". It's a great teaching tool!

Wonderful tool to help even small children understand saving, spending and tithing. We bought one for a 3 year old and a 5 year old. They both love the bank and understand how to use it.

This is exactly the bank I was looking for. There is a place to save for church, savings, and fun stuff. The bank is large enough to hold plenty of money and it is also easy to get the money out. We are very happy with the bank!

I was super excited when I heard about this bank. We have been teaching our children the same lessons with handling money. How to save, donate, and to spend.
Intentions: This bank is separated into three different sections with a different building representing each section. One for saving (bank), spending (store) and donate (church). The child is to put the money into each section for its intended use. Neat idea. Our experience: Well, I would really like to say I loved this bank, but I don't. We could not open it to retrieve the money when it came time to spend and donate. So frustrating. So, if the intent it to be able to get to the money when you want it, this is not the bank for you. But if you'd like to end up saving more money than you actually intended, then this is your bank. Decide for yourself, but a good ole' fashion coffee can is looking better and better after this experience.

It's simply a bank w/ three slots. It's made out of plastic. It has stickers you put on it. It's cheap. No surprises there. No. BUT IT'S BRILLIANT! Are you KIDDING me? Don't take this thing for granted. My 4 year old LOVES earning her money so she can put it in her bank. On Sundays we open the church to take the money to Jesus and she can't WAIT to tithe. It's not about the construction of the thing... it's about the lessons. THE TEACHABLE MOMENTS! This bank is perfect for teaching financial responsibility. I'm so grateful someone came up with this.

Just a basic bank, what came in the box is just like the picture and description - a bank with three slots in it. The stickers came on a sheet that you had to peel off and stick on the bank, and they were a little hard to get off, but then again, maybe I'm sticker-challenged!

Kid-friendly money manager,

We bought this for our son when he started earning an allowance for chores this summer. We keep a tally of what he earns each week, then break down his earnings into the bank's three categories--church/charity, savings, and spending. Helps him see how you should put aside certain portions of your earnings, not just spend it all. The bank comes with a brief, helpful guide for teaching your kids to be good stewards of the money they earn.

I love the concept of this bank and really searched around before I bought this one. I think that if the bank had come to me in the condition the picture indicates I would have loved it. But it didn't. The first difference, which is a minor irritaion at most, is that the color is not accurate. Ours are not a nice, solid looking royal blue. They are instead a light turquoise. Which of course my son declared a girl color. This is really a non-issue apart from the fact that I think a product's picture should at least closely resemble the product. Also, the "pictures" you see are not a part of the bank. They are instead stickers you have to place on. The problem is that none of ours stick. We bought two banks, not one single sticker on either bank stuck. We tried every kind of glue imaginable and they wouldn't stay on. Also, the slots are just not functional for adding bills to the bank. I have to meticulously fold my kids' allowance every week to help them put it in. Add to that the same issue another commenter posted- that we cannot get the money out- and this bank is just not functional for us.
I was greatly disappointed because this is the only three part bank out there that comes even close to holding a good amount of money. I guess we'll be making our own banks.
