Hardly his greatest..., June 11, 2001

This is a German RCA collection of some, but hardly the greatest, songs of Paul Anka. The selections are mostly from his RCA period during the 60's. There are a few of his biggest hits from his ABC-Paramount years but these are the re-recorded RCA versions. not the original recordings.
The sound quality is acceptable but the lack of effort here is shown in the fact that several of the tracks (7-11) appear in mono where virtually all of Anka's RCA recordings are available in stereo in one place or another. This particular set is OK if you especially want the some of the particular songs on this collection but you can get far superior sound and a better representation of Anka's material elsewhere. Taragon Records has a superb collection of Anka's RCA recordings on their "Essential RCA Rock and Roll Recordings".
