He knows she can't be real, but he repeatedly takes risks in order to see her again. Maggie tells him where he must go to find her and he hopes that this angel he has fallen in love with is not just a figment of his imagination. In Guardian Of The Heart by Sandra Chastain, Lauren McBride is a widow searching for a husband to help her protect her home from the Comanche. With a little help from her dead husband, Lauren finds Cade. Holton Cade seems to be a dubious savior, but he's the only one she's got. When the Comanche attack comes, Lauren discovers Cade may be just what she needs to save her from the loneliness in her heart. The angel in Angel On My Shoulder by Susan Krinard takes the unlikely form of a parrot named Ariel. Left alone in California after the death of her father, Miranda O'Reilly returns to the only profession she's ever known, acting. It seems impossible that Damien Levesque, the man she loved in New Orleans, could be in California, but he is. She wasn't good enough for him in New Orleans, and Miranda doubts anything has changed. Damien and Miranda still love each other, but will foolish pride keep them apart a second time? Not if Ariel can help it!
