Wonderful summer read,

Mark Thompson has written a story filled with love, heartbreak and laughter. It's a book that takes you out of your own world and into that of his characters. His discriptive writing has you visualizing not only the characters but the settings in which they live and travel.
Would recommend this book to anyone who is reading for the true joy of it. Handed it off to my daughter this morning and she never put it down.

Mr. Thompson covers that rare breed of gay man, known to populate only the pockets of wealth that exisit in any city with a large gay population - "The Rent Boy". Using their looks, youth, and wiles, and an overwhelming desire for the "good life", this breed of gay man can be seen with older, wealthy men - playing the game, and paying the rent, by hook, or by crook.
I found this novel to fully illustrate this lifestyle, and the small window of time the "rent boy" has to work with, to make his mark. Mr. Thompson has provided a richly entertaining background, with recognizable characters; I found the novel to be a thoroughly enjoyable read, with a surprise ending that satisfies, and provides a thought provoking message. Looking forward to your next novel, Mr. Thompson!

Hysterically entertaining,

Mark Thompson's newest novel carries the reader into the lives of Teddy, Harold and David as they embark on a journey together while looking over the Hawaiian sunset. Thompson's knowledge of Hawaii, as well as NYC shine through as he describes the wishes and aspirations of a young man (Teddy) who desperately wants to be part of something more in life yet, Harold and David (his companions) always seem to get in his way.
Read this book and you will find yourself rolling on the floor laughing. Definitely a book to share with a friend.

An easily addictive read,

Thompson's latest novel takes us into the world of the main character through intelligently descriptive and constantly humorous writing. A world, not unlike modern society, in which the audience becomes fascinated by the details in the life of what could be a gay version of the Anna Nicole Smith story. Like a reality based entertainment show, Thompson makes it very easy to relate to his novel's characters whom we get to know vividly throughout. All too well maybe, as even in their worst moments, we can picture ourselves. Overall, the style of writing coupled with the story line itself make this read entirely addictive.

Mr. Thompson tells this tell through exquisite writing that leads you to not wait to read the next chapter. The characters developed and rich (in more ways than one) draw you in to their lives. Some of which we may have known in our real lives at some point or another; they are quite real.
I recommend this book because of the sweet story line that isn't your typical "gay" story. The characters, although on the outside might seem cliche, individually and in the story's context, are very different, multi-dimensional people that you can relate to, scream at, and just want to smack on the head sometimes. So check it out. I think it's a story you'll enjoy. |
