Medical costs are out of control and Americans are paying outrageous amounts to cover their medical needs. On top of that, healthcare is filled with medical jargon that is confusing and hard to understand. Most of us quickly get lost - and then billed beyond belief! How can you fight what you don't understand? Well you don't have to be an M.D. or a translator to understand healthcare and get your costs under control. Now, the experts at change:healthcare - who have learned much thanks to their own personal experiences - share what they know about the system and how to survive it. Inside, you'll find how to: · Make sense of your medical bills and EOBs · Negotiate with the big boys - and end up paying less · Find the most reliable service when it comes to your family's health · Spot the differences and cost trade-offs in insurance plans What Other People Have to Say: "My Healthcare is Killing Me does a great service in demystifying some of the complexities of the American healthcare system. It encourages individuals to be engaged in healthcare reform by asking them to become a part of the solution, reminding us that truly changing healthcare will be a responsibility shared by all." -Clayton McWhorter, Chairman of Clayton Associates "At last a clear, concise, entertaining and practical read on the fundamentals of healthcare in America. Having the facts and figures so clearly laid out has a calming effect. Push aside the piles of paper and read this book first!" -Fred Eberlein, Founder/CEO ReliefInsite.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and helpful read!, October 16, 2008

This is a book anyone who has to deal with America's healthcare system needs to devour. It's a quick read that I found quite insightful. In fact, I recently had the opportunity to put several of its tips into practice, and that gave me the confidence, knowing that I really did have some control over the care that I get and how much it costs me. The lessons appear to be from real people and very practical. And I really like connecting with and reading through the insights others offered about various services, care and pharmaceuticals. I feel far more armed with solid information that should be helpful in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars This should be required reading., April 22, 2009
This should be required reading for all Americans. It actually explains how health care works and what you can do to make it work better for you. If you don't understand how the system works, you should read this. If you think you understand how the system works, you should read this. The information presented is clear, easy to digest and quite simple to understand. It takes all the complexities of our health care system and breaks them down into very easy to understand and actionable parts. If you have ever used, been frustrated with or confused by the American health care system this is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Insightful and Helpful, April 22, 2009

Not only was this an easy read (with a lot of humor) it was very helpful. In one location - you have definitions, basic knowledge and a "roadmap" to navigate the confusing thing we call healthcare. My husband and I both read it - and it explained concepts to him that I was never able to convey on my own.

If you have a chronic condition...this is a must read.
