4.0 out of 5 stars Get comfy, snuggle in, and get ready for a great story, March 19, 1999

This review is from: By My Heart Betrayed (Mass Market Paperback)
Keane and Esmerelda lead the reader through a stunning story. Not your usual "I've been wronged" plot line. Esmerelda was betrayed as a youngster (she was 10) but a fiesty Irish woman/girl took to looking out for her. They made their way to America, where they struggled for nine years to make enough money to reclaim Esmerelda's birthright. There are twists and turns, but eventually our hero steps in to prevent this "scemeing witch" from fleecing his good friends. What he learns however, is touching and beautifully written. Here we have a strong, independant woman, but the story does not degenerate into the "I have to do this on my own" theme. You will enjoy watching Keane and Esmerelda build their love and work together to restore her rightful place, while overcoming deeply engrained fears. This was a great story, and I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful love story indeed!, November 10, 1997

This review is from: By My Heart Betrayed (Mass Market Paperback)
Well, it is after reading this book that I became interested in Olga Bicos works. "By My Heart Betrayed" is one of her best works to-date. It's a love story between Esmeralda MacClure (an English aristocrat who was forced into exile in USA)and Keane Marshall, a hero of blue-blood too. Read about how Keane ingeniously romanced the pretty young Esmeralda (very unorthodox!), their triumps, their fears and Esmeralda's eventual triumphant return to England to regain her rightful wealth and status. If you're interested to know about Lord Marshall and his family, try reading "White Tiger"... As they say, the saga continues!
