5.0 out of 5 stars The one before the breakthrough, April 24, 2004
This review is from: From My Heart (Audio CD)
This album was not a success - it yielded some minor country hits but did not have that one big hit necessary to make people take notice of Kathy's music. Allen Reynolds, who also produced her later successful albums as well as many of Crystal Gayle's classic seventies albums, produced this album but the musicians were different. This is more of a mainstream country album - her later albums have folk and bluegrass influences.

As far as I can tell, nine of the ten songs are originals. The only cover I can identify is Ball and chain, an obscure Elton John song (from his album, Jump up). Trail of tears (written by Allen Reynolds and Roger Cook) was later covered by Nick Lowe, but is not the song that Tanya Tucker included on her classic album, What do I do with me.

This is a very enjoyable album that should appeal to most of Kathy's fans despite being a little different from her later albums.
