I've been reading Pia's blog off and on for a few years now and have been so inspired by her story and her subtle and beautiful captures of everyday life. This is the first book I've seen of hers and I bought it to go on a journey. I was not disappointed. Her story is a lovely one, sharing the possibilities that open up when we shed our fears and leap/sidle/glide into new beginnings. I enjoyed the photography, something I like of hers very much, and the overall feeling of the book. I would have given it 5 stars if only the production of the book was less glossy and more in keeping with the feeling of her imagery and the way she writes. So, if it is every reprinted, matte paper would be gorgeous! Love the 2mm boards of the cover, which is less formal than the traditional thicker hardback, and more journal-like. I am happy to have it in my collection, would recommend it, and also buy it for a gift. Nice job, Pia!

I love to read this book, it makes me understand better how I should follow my heart and taking risk sometime in life. I love how Pia visualize her feeling and her story. I think she is great visual story teller in my opinion. Beside that, I admire her for so long through her blog.

I ordered this book because one of my favorite bloggers recommended it. Unfortunately, the generation gap reared its ugly head. I find the writer to be self-centered, self-indulgent and minimally talented. She tries to give all these reasons for moving to Paris that have to do with creative struggle and freedom, when it really all boils down to she met a man. If you are 20-30, you may like it. If you are older you are more likely to say, " Get real! "

I really wanted this book after seeing the feel good photos on her blog, but once I got it her story (is there really one) petered out on me and the photos seemed too dark or too washed out. I thought her styling would match my aesthetic but was wrong once I reached a third of may way into the book.

I love books like this; written about a journey of any kind; whether real or imaginary. I bought the book when I was compiling a comprehensive photo book because I liked its’ density and simplicity of layout; the opacity of photographs. Pias’ journey is a personal one, interwoven with ‘real travel’ and at times I found I would be thinking of a comparison in my life which is perhaps a little egotisic but true, as I tend to follow my heart. I like the way Pias’ prose and photographs are interspersed with vignettes. It is a beautiful book which can be looked at time and time again. ‘Life is a journey, not a destination.’
