5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING!!!
We are watching child whose mother is deployed to Iraq. We ordered this book and included our own stories throughout the book for her to enjoy. We all cried putting it together and she cried reading it. It is the perfect gift for your soldier.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just being honest
I feel horrible...how do you knock a book like this? I am just being honest, that's what reviews are for.
There are some sweet and touching letters in here. I did enjoy reading the book, and you probably will too. There are some really cute pieces od art work too.
SO what's the problem? Well, some of the letters are not about the parent in the military, etc...

I read this book and cried my eyes out because as a dual military family (both husband and I are serving) we have heard our children say and write alot of these things. This book is a tear jerker, but certainly worth every tear.

5.0 out of 5 stars A gift for my son, March 12, 2009

The notes and drawings in this book, written and drawn by the children of my military comrades, truly touched me. My son is back home and I miss him dearly. I read each page fighting back tears. I only sat the book down to blow my nose. Once you start reading, you have to finish the entire book. It is that gripping! The joyful comments are evenly distributed between the writings of the children of fallen heroes, who live on in their hearts and memories of their children. This book is a must have for servicemen, servicewomen, and the children of our heroes!

As I read this book, I began to understand the simple, incredible words from kids whose parents are in the military.

Each has their own individual portrait of how they feel and how they honor 'their hero' that serves our country. Those bonds of love stretch hundreds of miles. Their limited time spent together is truly embedded to carry them through this most difficult time.

This book profoundly expresses the honor these children feel.

SO what's the problem? Well, some of the letters are not about the parent in the military, etc. I wish the editor had edited a little better some of the letters. I mean, I am not saying they should have altered the kids letters, or not included them, but some of the letters just don't fit in with the book, or are not anything "note worthy" OK, evevn I feel bad writing that. It's not that I don't have a heart for the kids whose parents are out laying their lives on the line for us. I read the book for that very reason. I just found some of it odd, and didn't walk away thinking this was a book I wanted to buy as a gift for anyone or recommend. There are a few precious letters that are amazing. Otherwise it might be just normal stuff that you'd see in the grocery store, or a classroom that truly not every perons would find amazing enough to stop and read. It's cute though. I am glad the kids were able to get their words out there as they have some brave parents, and thus are themselves brave.
