Wow... what a nice album. Pop-folkster Mindy Smith really outdoes herself on this one. It's heartfelt, engaging, original and quite lovely to listen to... She sings a few standards, performing them with unusually rich sincerity -- her lingering, lounge-y rendition of Frank Loesser's "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve" is a gem, and she croons religious tunes like "Follow The Shepard Home" like she really means it. It's Smith's original material that stands out here, though: the opening song, "My Holiday," is a gentle meditation on the season; "Santa Will Find You" is an inspirational anthem in five-and-dime drag, and "I Know The Reason" is simply a beautiful song about perseverance and quiet hope, closing with the stanza, "It's been a long, long year/it's coming to an end/Looking by my side/you still have my hand", a lyric that, for some reason, really jumps out at you. This is an disc I could roast chestnuts to for several seasons to come -- and for a Grinch like me, that's pretty high praise. Check it out! (DJ Joe Sixpack/Slipcue)

This is a beautiful blend of Christmas songs we know and love and new songs Mindy Smith has written. I have always loved Christmas music and the traditional songs have been my favorites for as long as I can remember, but the new songs she has given us will be a treasured part of our Christmases for years to come. With her very personal renditions of classics and the new songs, it is a welcome addition to our Christmas playlist, and it will be to yours as well.

If I could talk to Mindy Smith, I'd love to tell her that her music touches me like nobody else's. She's her own person, whether she's interpreting traditional favorites or speaking to us through her own simple (yet eloquent) songs. I keep buying her music because she always has me from the first listen!

There is wonderful musicianship here; American/Tennesee with a bit of young Rock.

Thoughtful work; the listener can enjoy her insights and/or simply relax and absorb the music.

I keep a short list of my favorite Christmas CDs of all time. Move over Julie Andrews, Emmylou Harris, The Judds, Shawn Colvin, and Bruce Cockburn, because Mindy Smith's "My Holiday" is now at the top of my list. This CD is gorgeous in every way. The packaging is outstanding and worth the price of the CD. The production, arrangements, and musicianship are exceptional throughout. The music is truly stellar - - off-the charts beautiful. The absolute highlight, though, is Mindy's songwriting. Her songs, some co-written, are the stand-outs. Some of them could eventually be standards. Her melodies are especially strong, and her amazing voice is the perfect instrument for conveying their aching beauty. "Follow the Shepherd Home" is my favorite. It is simple but inspired. "I Know The Reason" is a lovely duet with a timeless melody. "My Holiday" is the perfect opener. Even "Santa Will Find You", which could easily become another silly Santa song, has a heart-wrenching warmth. Mindy Smith handles the Christmas standards with grace and style. "Away in A Manger", for example, is a superb duet with Alison Krauss. Mindy and Alison? It doesn't get any better than this. If you want a Chrsitmas CD for the ages, this is it.

Outstanding!!! Vocals are pure and moving. It is a lovely collection of favorites but not trite -at all... Great with the volume up or for dinner background music. I have everything Mindy has ever done and this is an added treasure.

Absolutely addictive; I listened to it on "repeat" for 2 days! Mindy has a refreshing sound, so I gave her CD as gifts this year.

My son and his girlfriend turned me onto Mindy Smith's music months ago. When I learned that she had produced a Christmas album, I could not have been more pleased. It did NOT disappoint! I ended up purchasing 6 copies to give to loved ones for the holiday. Mindy's original works are brilliant as are her renditions of Christmas classics. I love the acoustic nature of the CD. And Mindy's voice is one I never tire of hearing. This CD is at the top of my list of favs & I look forward to listening to it for years to come.

I actually heard this CD while visiting my grandchildren over Chrustmas. My 10 year old granddaughter was lisening to it. I loved her songs. They weren't the typical and familiar Christmas songs.
Mindy smith has a beautiful smooth tone to her voice. I liked her so much I purchased another non-holiday CD.

I bought a batch of good Christmas albums at the end of 2007, and this one really stood out among them. Most artists fall back on covering the holiday chestnuts (and Ms. Smith does record Mel Torme's "Christmas Song"), but Mindy Smith breaks the mold by having more original songs than covers on "My Holiday." Ms. Smith does indeed make it "her holiday" w/such fare as the adorable and sweet "Santa Will Find You," the fervent "Follow the Shepherd Dog," and the stirring "Come Around," among others. As one native of Long Island to another, I salute you, Mindy Smith!
