Book Description

098231521X 978-0982315217 October 23, 2009 First

From business scandals to government corruption, to questionable choices and behavior, from those we hold up as examples; people have had enough! The country's recent history of integrity lapses has proven that our mutual success is in question unless leaders at all levels of every organization, community, and family get the integrity question correct. In this heralded work, award-winning author and corporate consultant Randy Pennington shows why integrity is crucial to every leader's success and how anyone who aspires to a position of leadership can accomplish that goal.

On My Honor, I Will presents a straightforward approach to earning and maintaining the trust and respect of others. Pennington builds on the timeless principles found in the venerated Scout Oath to show how to live with personal integrity; build strong relationships with interpersonal integrity; and build a foundation for success in a hyper-competitive world through organizational integrity. He combines his experience as a resource and advisor to executive leaders with examples from the best of America's distinguished leaders in business, government, and communities.

On My Honor, I Will features fascinating insights from well-known leaders like H. Ross Perot, Rex Tillerson, Judge William S. Sessions, Howard Putnam, and Jose Nino. You will meet such notables as Judi Phares, Bill Strickland, Anne Ream, and John Montgomery who are making a positive impact in their communities and businesses without being household names. And, you will see how organizations as diverse as ExxonMobil, Johnson and Johnson, and Gerber Baby Foods earn and maintain a reputation for integrity.

Here is a book that says a leader's true strength is not only in his or her position, intellect, or even determination. The leaders who inspire and challenge us to be and deliver our very best are distinguished by something much more powerful: a reputation for integrity, duty, service, honor, and doing what is right. It is an intangible that must be embraced and cultivated if we are to solve the challenges that are before us. If you want to become one of the legendary leaders, On My Honor, I Will is your starting point toward the journey to integrity-driven leadership.

5.0 out of 5 stars As a Leader, Your Values Shine Through, December 3, 2009

This review is from: On My Honor, I Will: The Journey to Integrity-Driven® Leadership (Hardcover)
For five years, I interviewed Eagle Scouts for a USCG Reserve Direct Commission....and I always wondered why Eagle Scouts always came out on the top of the list to be selected. Randy Pennington's book confirmed that these Eagle Scouts were inculcated in integrity-based leadership values - those values we were looking for in commissioned officers - values that every company and organization is looking for in their leaders.

What sticks with me in this book are the stories. Randy interviewed some mighty powerful people who shared amazing leadership examples. This book is definitely worth the read - and rather than placing lovingly on your bookshelf, share it with an aspiring, young person who will be the leaders of tomorrow. They need this book NOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars Now more than ever, November 17, 2009

This review is from: On My Honor, I Will: The Journey to Integrity-Driven® Leadership (Hardcover)
In these times when it seems that the mantras of our society are "do what's expedient" or "every man for himself," Randy Pennington gives us another choice: Do the right thing. Randy's philosophy of integrity driven leadership is the foundation for a business that can survive shifting markets and constantly changing conditions. I'm of the school that believes that, in business, culture is everything. On My Honor I Will gives leaders a blueprint for building the most powerful and productive culture known - a culture built on integrity. This isn't just a good book, it's an important book and one that can make a difference for any organization. Well done, Randy.
