Grab this one up before it's gone. What a great CD for a Singer! Ms. Anderson is at the top of the artist's game on this collection. From 'My Kinda Love' at the beginning, to 'They Didn't Believe Me' at the finale, if you haven't heard this CD, you are missing one of the best Singers creating one of the best albums.

Arrangments by Ernie Wilkins, with first-class musicians around her, elevate Ernestine Anderson to the level of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Lena Horne, and the cream of your favorite swinging singers of the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good grief! Where have I been?, March 14, 2005

I can't believe I've never come across Ernestine Anderson. What an incredible, sultry voice. This album knocked me out. Great song selection, great arrangements, great sidemen: Yusef Lateef, Hank Jones, Kenny Burrell, Art Taylor, et. al. After reading a little about Ernestine, it seems she peaked at the wrong time as popular music pushed out jazz vocalists in the early 1960s. She got completely gypped. Ernestine deserved to be a household name. The album starts out with a great swinger "My Kinda Love." Here she shows her strength and incredible height in a relaxed, fun way. "It Don't Mean a Thing," showcases her great sense of rhythm and phrasing. Her touch on ballads like "Trouble is a Man," and "Lazy Afternoon" is simply gorgeous! Ernestine is a jewel!
