5.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced Paperback Cookbook - 3 STARS, March 14, 2008
This review is from: My Kitchen: Costa Rican Typical Recipes (Paperback)
This book has a lot of recipes that I encountered while in Costa Rica. The author states that she wrote the book for tourists and changed some of the recipes to suite the taste of tourists. I wonder if this is why I do not see Lizano sauce listed in any of the recipes.... I know the sauce is used in just about everything as their "secret" ingredient, but it is not listed even with the bean recipes...and this is one of the important ingredients in the bean dips!

The recipes are easy to read and easy to follow.

This book is a small, 159 page paperback and I do not see it being worth anywhere near 25.00 (let alone the 35 dollars on other sites). There is nothing that sets this coobook apart from others so I am not sure why the cost is significantly higher. There are no photos. There are some decorative illustrations, but nothing fancy. There are not many Costa Rican recipe books out there, but the ones that are out there are around 7-8 dollars.

The decision is up to you, but I would not have purchased it if I had seen the publication before buying.

I tried to change the stars to three after it was submitted wrong, but it would not change the number of stars. Oops!
