I never write album reviews, but this one definitely deserves its praises. I don't even remember the last time I enjoyed an entire rap album, since new stuff is hit or miss for me.

This album really struck a chord with me because the beats and flavors definitely remind me of old school Dre and Snoop with classic West Coast elements all over it. There's plenty of catchy songs on the album that end up getting stuck in your head and you just can't help but bob your head to.

This is definitely a favorite for 2014. Yg will win over a lot of fans with this one.

Let's get one thing straight, YG is not the most talented rapper, nor will he ever be remembered by more than a few hip hop junkies in the years to come. YG has been in the game for a few years now, but recently made a name for himself with the insane banger "My Hitta". But people didn't expect much to happen after that song made its rounds on the radio. With that being said, with My Krazy Life, the man has proven that he's more than a one hit wonder.
Production wise, DJ Mustard took almost all of it. DJ Mustard is arguably the biggest producer in the game right now, but his painfully simplistic and repetitive style did not leave much promise to this album. Luckily, this is the most varied we've seen Mustard. Don't get me wrong, you'll see plenty of songs that repeat the same 4-5 note loops with "HEY" being chanted in the background, but he took one tiny step out of his comfort zone and produced a few gems such as "Do It To Ya", "Bicken Back Being Bool" and "Left, Right".
YG was surprisingly delightful on a lot of these tracks. As sated before, YG has been around for a few years now, but this is by far the most seasoned he's sounded yet. He sounds like a veteran on a lot of tracks and doesn't make many mistakes here which is excellent knowing how much this could have ended up like a Future or Ty Dolla $ign album. He really sounds good on the songs "I Just Want To Party", "Left, Right", "Bicken Back Being Bool", and "Really Be".
On top of that we heard some great guest features. Drake does fantastic on "Who Do You Love". YG also managed to land Kendrick Lamar for one of the album highlights "Really Be".

This album is killer. I bought it today and put it on repeat in the kitchen I work in and really let it soak in and it bumps like crazy. The lyrics are typical gangsta stuff which is cool by me I'm a huge fan of 90's West Coast and this is like kinda like Kendrick Lamar's Good kid, m.A.A.d.city but Kendrick's lyrics are still better. The raw minimalist beats of DJ Mustard are thick as a brick and kinda like e40 and Too $hort's hyphy bay area style. Good Head noddin in the ride is what comes to mind. The only problem I have is that I didn't spend the extra bucks to get the deluxe which has 3 more songs and I can't get enough of this album so 3 more would be awesome. If you're a fan of West coast and nice beats this is for you it's a no brainer most every Rap fan can find a lot of good stuff on this one. Check it out.

Banging album from cuz,he rep'd hard for the funk car on his debut.Every tracc is banging except Do it to ya,Who do you love, & that weak intro{ they should of plan something better,it was too plan & simple}.The deluxe is sicc, also the best buy bonus song "459".I wrote a longer review for this album but it didn't go through, now i'm too lazy to write it again.

YG is not going to go down in history as changing the dynamics of rap music, that is for sure. But it does have some catchy hooks and good beats. If you are just looking for something different to add to your collection, this will do.

it's less dangerous.
i can vividly remember the day it came in the papers that Tupac was shot dead
in Las Vegas.just a few years before,Kurt Cobain died very sadly too and then they were both gone.
just like that.i started listening to West Coast hip hop for real with the chronic.
a tad too young for NWA's glory days,to experience them as a thinking individual,so it was Dr Dre
and Snoop who really brought it home for me.

not saying YG is tupac or anything, but if you think about what's happening
right now in CA,schoolboy q's album and whatever k :Lamar chooses to do next…….
it's great.
it's all good and way more.

but you might want the whole picture and you do need oxymoron(s q)
as well.

i adore West Coast hip hop.
a lifer.
my k life is great, but add in kendrick lamar too when you
make the purchase.
any title will do.

thank you california,compton,LA,Bay Area ,Atlanta…………..wherever.
peace.
this is done right.
finally.
