5.0 out of 5 stars my kung fu 12 kicks, September 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: My Kung Fu 12 Kicks (DVD)
Ok old school Kung Fu fans! I bought this movie for the commentary with Rick Myers from kung fu magazine and this is another great commentary from the dude that did his home work. He is going to give you the scoop on all three Bruce Lee look alikes that were used back in the day. Do not purchase this movie if you were born in the 80's and on up! These are pretty much for the old school dudes that grew up on the very start of this kung fu kick. I mainly like my movies to have Yang Sze in them and this one did not have him. But, like I said, I enjoy the hec out of these commentaries with Rick Myers and there are a few other dudes that put out some good stuff also. You got to hunt around. Anyway, take a trip back to the 70's when you were seeing these flicks with the real Bruce Lee movies at a downtown theatre. Some of you dudes use to sleep in these theatres all day and night. Waking up to a fight every time! These movies use to play in a downtown theatre and there were usually 3 movies. So you bought your ticket and could hang out all day or night. When we would go to these flicks, we could usually see a few dudes sound asleep. So take a trip back to the good ol days of kung fu craze! We were the first generation that got to see this stuff first hand. Martial arts studios were just starting to come up during this time. Before then, you had to have been in the service to learn Judo and boxing. But that was it. They had no fighting movies. [Kung Fu] Even after the green hornet first aired on tv it still did not spark the craze. It was the movie 'ENTER THE DRAGON' along with David Carradine's tv show 'Kung Fu' that started this whole thing. UFC as we know it and everything else first got it start with these chop sokey flicks.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great fighting, bad dubbing, February 4, 2007

I really wish they would re-dub some of Bruce Liang's movies. The fight choreography and slapstick humor on this is great and is on par with the best of any Jackie Chan movie. But the dubbing is just too asinine to follow. I would rather watch this in Chinese than in English!!

2.0 out of 5 stars the little brat is back, May 14, 2006
This review is from: My Kung Fu 12 Kicks (DVD)
Now I am pretty sure you have seen kung fu hustle if you are reading this review. So you know who the beast is. Well now you can experience this guy in the roles he used to be in. His name is bruce liang and was a bruce lee clone for a long time. He was also a jacky clone but he can't act whatsoever like jacky can, he is just hard to watch at any time. They don't exactly showcase his bad acting like they did with the fists, kicks, and evils, but is still pretty noticeable. I would recommend hapkido if you want to see him in a really good role.

So the story is pretty pitiful and you can tell that they put absolutely no time into it. Another movie that was probably shot in a day or maybe even two. So the bad guy(Hoi San Lee) shows up and he just wants to beat people down I guess. he does so and then bruce goes to train with ku feng to get revenge. Like I said the story is godawful. Bruce has a girlfriend in this and out fo nowhere she gets beaten to death and bruce gives absiolutely no recognition to it. Amazing. So let me just skip past the stupid ass training sequences and talk about he final fight. Pretty unspectacular, btu at the very end it gets good when his friend enters the scene. We get about 30 seconds of some really good stuff but the rest is right on par with most of the crap you have seen. It is sad, casue these are 2 of the top screen fighters ever.

The commentary sucks too.
