This review is from: My Lady Enslaved (Archangels) (Kindle Edition)
This is the second book in a Regency series of six books by Shirl Anders about the Archangels, a group of former spys. I read the books a bit out of sequence, reading book number 4, My Lady Taken (Archangels), then book number 1, My Lady Compelled (Archangels). I felt book number two had a darker feel to it overall.

Harrison Ravenscar was badly injured during his work as a spy by someone who had betrayed the plans of the Archangels. The chemical burns ruined his hands, and caused his voice to be nothing more than a rasp. Ravenscar has tracked down the person responsible for the betrayal, Lia, and he intends to make her pay. What he doesn't realize is that Lia has a twin sister, Chloe. Evil Lia has used Chloe's son against her, forcing Chloe to set herself up to look like Lia. Chloe only wants to get her son back, and is willing to do anything to do so.

This book was more intense in the Dom/sub lifestyle than I am used to reading, and definitely more than the previous books I had read in the series. Ravenscar breaks Chloe down, until she is willing to do anything to please him. Some of these situations are pretty embarrassing for her, and may feel awkward if you aren't used to this type of reading. They do have a HEA.

I always like a good twin/bad twin plot device, so I was originally eager to purchase this story. I can't fault it for the quality of writing or story, I think those were all fine. I just didn't enjoy reading about Chloe living through one embarrassing situation after another (not always at Ravenscar's hands). I would give 3.5 stars if that were an option, but I chose to round to 3 over 4 as I truly preferred the other two books in the series that I mentioned.
