Ms. Hauf has just garnered a loyal fan with this book, the first of hers I've read. Her writing is evocative and the story is quite original and , thankfully, a respite from the rather formula-like books of the genre. Sabine herself is such a unique and enchanting character, and I found myself aching for her and Louis both at the despair each had suffered before finding one another. A definite keeper.
