Book Description

A Lady's Choice

Frustrated by the outrageous demand that she choose a husband or have one chosen for her, Mackenna Hughes blindfolds herself and vows to wed the first man she touches in the circle of eager suitors that surrounds her. But as she swirls among the village merrymakers, MacKenna suddenly crashes into a towering rocklike body . . . and looks up into the dark, penetrating eyes of a total stranger!

A Lord's Challenge

Lord Thomas Montclaire has been sent by King Edward to take over the village and MacKenna's family castle. Now he lays claim to the reckless, scarlet-haired rebel who blindly made her choice, yet denies his right to either her village or herself. Her brazen courage amazes him, but her stubborn pride and fiery beauty stir a storm in his blood, and he vows he will wed her, tame her, and claim her wild, rebellious heart as she has claimed his.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Mackenna Hughes is a headstrong heroine who simply cannot get out of her own way. She refuses to see the good in Lord Thomas Montclaire, who lays claim to her village by King Edward's decree. Mackenna is rebellious, protective, and brazen, and Lord Montclaire has the devil's own time controlling her and making her understand that love and trust are nothing to fear. A courageous heroine and a strong, yet tender-hearted hero make this a memorable read.

About the Author

I've leaned heavily toward the dramatic from my earliest childhood, when I forced my neighborhood friends to act out every movie I saw. Of course, I insisted on being director, costumer, star, and all-around bossy person. At the ripe old age of six. I organized my first parade and led a straggling band of eight equally young victim up one side of our block and down the other, carrying a proudly crayoned banner that read "The Parade of California." I'm still bossy, but now I direct it toward my characters, who accept my brilliant dramatic guidance -- most of the time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very Slow and it doesnt get any better, January 14, 1999
This review is from: For My Lady's Kiss (Mass Market Paperback)
The only reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 1 is because I really like Linda Needham. Her other 2 novels were well written. I didnt know what happen, actually more like what didnt happen. It began very good. The hero was funny and the heroine was fiesty. But honestly, when your love for the house or castle induces you to betray a guy who makes it so apparent that he loves you. It can only mean two thing...the book is poorly written or the heroine needs to be bashed over the head...Furthermore, it took soooo long for the hero and heroine to get together. All they seem to be concerned about was a castle without the roof. And finally the villian...I simply could not hate him. I found him pathetic and not worthy of someone like Mckenna to hang him. If I was her, I would strip him naked and have him send to King Edward. I understand her anguish because he did hang her father but Linda Needham does little to explain that. I simply did not feel anything for the heroine except annoyance and I found myself wishing that she would grow up. Instead of plotting to get her castle back and get rid of her hero, who she happens to love. What a silly chit!!! I wish she would make up her mind instead of running around proving that she is as silly as her brothers. Ahhh...I wont go there, I'll be here all night..but I would save your money...I only wish that I wasnt so disappointed..she is really a good writer, just not with this one..

4.0 out of 5 stars Love the hero!, November 4, 2005
This review is from: For My Lady's Kiss (Mass Market Paperback)
I liked this book, it was very entertaining. I found myself laughing at many of the interactions between hero and heroine - but Mackenna did get on my nerves. She acts childish so much of the time... Still Thomas was a great hero - I just wish he had a heroine worthy of him.
