Editorial Reviews

Review

"Laurie's theme of simplicity is a good one. The nation cannot and must not become "complacent", because that's when we become most vulnerable. That's why I believe her very simple approach to preparedness is most appealing."
Douglas R. Aton
Director of Emergency Services - Hawaii

"Whether an illness, accident, fire, tornado or hurricane, having information and documents safely in one place for yourself or your family to utilize in an emergency is common sense.
Reminding people to take the time to protect their loved ones, themselves and all they’ve worked hard for is admirable. "
Nancy Douglass, General Manager

About the Author

Laurie Ecklund Long is an emergency specialist with over a decade of experience as an author and national speaker. She provides a wealth of information relating to surviving natural disasters, terminal illnesses and family emergencies.

Laurie learned many of her "survival skills" through the loss of 12 family members and close friends within a period of five years. During that time and also through experiences related to 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina she began to investigate a variety of ways for individuals and businesses to face their losses and recover quickly.
Laurie created a personal emergency preparedness plan that helps individuals and families build an emergency toolbox, allowing them to leave their home within minutes with everything they need to rebuild their life.

With optimism, and common sense approach to life and her deep faith in the Lord, Laurie motivates people to be prepared for whatever natural disaster or family emergency they may encounter

I just got this book about a week ago, so I have to start working on it.
I have a friend who has put one together in a file box and she keeps it close to her whereever she goes. It's very smart because life happens and you never know what you are going to need. And when you REALLY need all this stuff-there it is-no stress or trauma.

Thank you for a brilliant idea!

Format: Paperback
More than half the book (40pg ebook version) was on the 48 hours after a family member dies - helping you understand planning a funeral including forms & cost estimates. I was looking for more content & different content - the title is My Life In a Box, so it did not deliver exactly what the title promised. What was there seemed helpful - just not what I needed.

When I read about My Life in a Box I expected to receive more information than was in the booklet. It was basically a disappointment to me.
