My Life. The Deviates. Both staples of what could have been better mainstream skatepunk of the new millennium. But like all good things, they came to rise and fall quickly. It's sad in all honesty, because they are a good skate punk band. This album showcases the rawness and the ability that the band had. It's a lot better than their sophomore effort, which to me is too polished and weak in the instrumental department mixing wise. But both are good.

This band is AMAZING. It reminds me a lot of kid dynamite mixed a little bit with the old The Offspring.

The Deviates are a great band, while most of today's "punk" bands are horrible. The singer has somewhat of a high pitched voice, but surprisingly it doesn't annoy me.

this band is a great break for those of us who are sick of the way "punk rock" has been spoon fed to us over the radio/tv channels. they are a great band and "my life" is an excellent cd that will definately make you a deviates fan.

The DEVIATES are the greatest band in the world...They rock SO CAL style, they show the world that the greatest punk comes from the south bay...HB what! u better recognize the gnarly music that comes from these fools, and they need to make another cd...ive gone through 3 copies of this cd and i need to burn another...but i cant wait for another DEVIATES...They know how to rep the sb and i tel everyone bout them up here..i am up here in santa clara right now, and i cant wait to get back to hear the deviates in the good ole south bay...DOWN WITH NOR CAL...SOUTHBAY HB REPRESENT TO THE FULLEST...THIS IS AS PUNK AS U CAN GET!!!ROCK ON BROS!!!

I have been waiting for these guys to release an album for a very long time, and they did not let me down! I am so stoked! My good friend actually knows these guys and was able to obtain a demo tape of theirs at a show we went to during the summer of '97. Ever since that show I have been a die hard fan of THE DEVIATES. I have seen these guys play with 98 MUTE and a couple other bands, and they play pure punk rock with a touch of hardcore. You can see this in songs like I HATE(Teen Angst), I REMEMBER, and many others. They are in good company being signed on Theologian Records, with bands like Pennywise and 98 MUTE; Hermosa's Best! Every song on this album rules and I highly suggest picking it up!! And, if you can, SEE THEM LIVE, THEY ARE THE SICKKKKEST!!!

THESE GUYS ARE AMAZING. I HAVE SEEN THESE GUYS PLAY AND THEY ARE MY FAVOTIE BAND. THEY HAVE CATCHY TUNES LIKE WHO'S JOHNNY AND SONGS ABOUT LIFE LIKE I REMEMBER, MY LIFE AND MANY MORE. THIS IS O9NE OF THE BEST ALBUMS I HAVE SEEN IN A LONG TIME AND THESE KIDS ARE YOUNG AND THEY HAVE SO MUCH ENERGY. tHIS ALBUM IS FULL ON PUNK AND IT IS INTENSE. ALL THESE SONGS ARE HOW THEY SEE LIFE AND WHAT THEIR OUTLOOK ON IT ALL IS.

I WOULD DEFINATELY PICK THIS ONE UP, IT IS WORTH EVERY CENT.

THESE GUYS ARE AWESOME. TI HAVE SEEN THEM PLAY QUITE A FEW TIMES AND THEY ARE 20 TIMES BETTER LIVE AND THAT IS HARD CONSIDERING HOW MUCH THIS CD ROCKS. I WOULD CONSIDER THIS A CONTENDER FOR ALBUM OF THE YEAR. THESE ARE A BUNCH OF HIGH SCHOOL KIDS SIGNED TO A TINY LABEL YET THEY ARE KNOWN ALL OVER AND THEY MADE A GREAT CD. THIS IS NEW SCHOOL PUNK AT ITS FINEST. I WOULD DEFINATELY SEE THEM IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE AND DEFINATELY PICK UP THE CD. EVERY SONG IS GOOD AND THIS NEVER LEAVES MY CD PLAYER UNLESS I AM TAKING IT SOMEWHERE. I SAY ITS THE BEAST CD I OWN. IN FACT MY FRIEND KNOWS THEM AND PARTIES WITH THEM ALL THE TIME AND I HAVE TALKED TO THEM NUMEROUS TIMES AT SHOWS AND THEY ARE COOL. CHECK OUT THE GUITAREST CHARLEY, HE IS GOING THROUGH A BUDDY HOLLY/RANCID IDENTITY CRISIS WITH THE GLASSES AND SPIKED HAIR.

The Deviates are nothing more than a bad Offspring rip-off, so approach them accordingly. There are shouts-a-plenty, but this band never ONCE captures the raw aggression, dark humor, or scathing insight of The Offspring's debut, Ignition, Smash, or Ixnay on the Hombre. The singer of The Deviates is a whiny little boy with the voice of a prepubescent. Hey, Deviates, here's some Punk Rock for you: Shut the f*ck up. Really. If a band can't do something unique or worthwhile, I don't want to hear their hackneyed attempt. The slow break in the middle of "I Hate (Teen Angst)" steals from The Offspring's "No Hero". Yes, we noticed. Music this stale seems to be polluting the radiowaves at an exponential rate. Maybe Bryan Holland can graph us a few scatter plots to chart the exponential growth of sh*tty acts that rip off his band's style and continually pollute the radiowaves at this seemingly-endless rate.
