One of my favorite Elvis books, March 17, 2004
This review is from: My Life with Elvis (Hardcover)
Shortly after Elvis died, Becky Yancey did a book signing at a local mall and I was fortunate to get an autographed copy of this book. It's a very interesting read and I've gone back to it many times down thru the years. It would be great if she could write another book on Elvis. I'm sure there are many more stories to be told of her time spent with him.

Confusing, but good nevertheless, April 14, 2008
This review is from: My Life with Elvis (Hardcover)
My sister also got a signed copy of Ms.Yancey's book at a book signing in l978. I just found it, though, along with some LP's and Ed Parker's book. Her story does jump around a bit, but it is nice to read about Elvis written by someone who didn't seem to have an agenda or a grudge. She just wanted to tell about her experiences. I would recommend it.

Skips around, November 1, 2005
This review is from: My Life with Elvis (Hardcover)
this book skips around from year to year too much. it does have a lot of stories that I had never read before. but the book gives you little bits of one story in the 70's then goes back to the 60's then back again to the 70's etc. it is not a bad read just not what I expected when I started it. but if you are an Elvis fan it will keep your intrest.

Kiss and tell, December 1, 1999
This review is from: My Life with Elvis (Hardcover)
Although Mrs. Yancey had no love-affair with Elvis, she claims - according to the title of her book - to have lived with Elvis. That's not quite what happened, but she was for a period of 13 years his private secretary. "My life with Elvis" is a collection of her memories of Elvis, Elvis' family, the Memphis Maffia, Linda Thompson, the fans etc. Included are further some funny - and less funny - stories she experienced working for Elvis and a few pages with black and white pictures. The book is easy to read and special, because this was one of the first books written about Elvis by (former) employees. In fact, this book was written when Elvis was still alive and Becky Yancey claims that Elvis gave his approval to her book, which has been published shortly after Elvis' death, so she had to write an extra chapter to "complete" her storie. Like most books of this genre, it isn't great literature, but for the die-hard Elvis-fan it will be fun to read, although not essential.

Confusing and poorly written, but the heart is there., January 29, 2002
This review is from: My Life with Elvis (Hardcover)
Becky Yancey has some difficulty writting as seen when one goes forth in reading this book. But the heart is there. The book is mostly made up of collected ancedotes, gathered into chapters. Some of the writing makes it sound like Elvis is still alive, which apparently he was for most of the book's time in pre-publication. I thought it was OK overall, and I'm not even an Elvis fan.
