Best reading light ever! Surprised by other reviews.,
This review is from: My Light - LED Task / Reading Clip Light - Green
I'm surprised by the low rating given by others. This is THE BEST reading light I've ever owned, and I've tried them all. In my view the light doesn't just cover the page, it illuminates the area, yet the blue light isn't to bright. My husband does not like my using a reading light when I'm in bed because the light is so white. This book light has a soft blue hue that's bright but doesn't overtake the darkness. I guess the main point is whether you like to read in dim or bright light. I hate to read in bright light and always have. If you need bright light to read comfortably this may not be the right product for you. However, before deciding against this light because of brightness you may want to consider the best feature. The clip and moveable head. I never experienced a problem with the light head not staying in the place I put it. The reading light clips just about anywhere, and not just a book. I've clipped it to my bed's headpost and positioned the light so that it shines over head. I don't have to worry about pages hitting the light head when flipping a page. The light head is also removeable so I use it to walk into the bedroom when my husband is sleeping and I need to find something in the room (I'm a night owl). I've tried many ways to not disturb his sleep while getting what I need from the room but none have worked well accept this light. My husbands even said that he's noticed that I've come into the room sometimes but he's not disturbed because the light is not too bright (it's similar brightness as the digital alarm clocks with a more vast span a luminocity (spl?). Finally, I had to replace the battery after many, many, many hours of use. I've never had a light last as long as this one. I was a bit apprehensive about the battery change process because of some of the reviews. There was no need to worry. It was so easy to do! Again, the ease of use was at minimum equal to the replacement process for any other light, and don't worry about finding batteries. While the battery it uses is not a standard size, any Radio Shack or Fry's will have this item. They specialize in all types of battery sizes. I own two of these light and I came to buy more so I can stash them in every room! I was fortunate to buy the two in a pack for $15 at Sams Club. Should have bought more.

Best Book Lights We've Tried!,
By
This review is from: My Light - LED Task / Reading Clip Light - Green
First, in the interest of full disclosure, I am writing this review under my husband's "real name" because it's his account.
My husband and I are avid readers and we often read in bed before falling asleep. As such, we've looked at and tried just about every book light on the market. We initially found these lights by chance at a Costco, sitting by themselves (the only package available) on top of a stack of books. We tried them out and they were fantastic. Most book lights had one of two features we liked, and a lot more that we didn't. These were just what we wanted. They are lightweight. They are very, very bright. The battery is easy to change. The light bulbs have never needed to be replaced. They are compact and don't weigh down a paperback. The clip is strong and stays in place. Best of all is the swivel. You can direct these lights anywhere you need them, left/right, up/down, all around. Plus you can direct the arm that holds the lights to various angles. It's perfect for night-time or car/air travel reading. Someone said it's hard to find batteries for the lights. We've never had that problem. Target and WalMart carry an extensive supply (I think they are 2032, we get Duracell and Energizer brands and they last a long time). Very easy to replace, just unscrew the back of the light and pop them in. I will say the first lights we got in that original two-pack from Costco (we have never seen them at the store again, it was such a fluke) did have a problem with one of the two lights. One of the batteries always gets stuck and is next to impossible to remove. We end up unscrewing the other half of the light where the bulbs are and pushing the battery out the other side. This is obviously not intended to be the way to change the battery. HOWEVER this has NEVER happened with the lights we've bought from this company through Amazon - only one one of the first two we got at Costco, and I'm not even sure they were made by the same people, although they look identical. Since buying that first two-pack, we've bought four more lights from this company at Amazon. My husband and I keep them in various locations of the house, in our travel bags, in the car, etc., and get constant use out of them. They are durable, and long lasting. Only one thing I have a complaint about: the claw-clip is supposed to open using a thumb-press movement, but I find it difficult to use. It's easily worked around just by opening it with my fingers and attaching it to the book. Maybe I have small hands, my husband doesn't have this problem. It's a minor issue, though. Finally, I love the colors. Pink, blue, and purple especially. They just make you happy to look at, but maybe that's just me. :)

Good Light!,

Boy, do some reviewers have an axe to grind or what?! You'd think they were reviewing a $100 light or something. I like these lights. I have had several for the last few years and they have held up great and been very useful. I use mine as book lights, fix-it lights and I keep one in my car. I have even given some as gifts - to the recipient's delight! I might agree that there may be better pure "book lights" on the market - but there are not better book lights that are ALSO all around good task lights / flashlights. This one is the best! I guess as far as booklights go, it just depends on what your expectations are and how you use it - and how big the pages of the book are that you're trying to light up! At least with this light it's way easy to roll the ball around and point the light where you want it. Contrary to some weird reviews, the batteries have all lasted a long time, were very easy to change (just unscrew the back of the ball - drop in the batteries and screw it back together - that's it!) and were not hard to find in stores. I have purchased several sets of batteries at both WalMart and Radio Shack. If you get this fun light and you don't like it, then you are probably the kind of person who's just never happy about anything!

Bad light,

A book light should:
1)Light up the page enough that you can read the entire page without repositioning it 2)Not be so bulky that it is difficult to adjust it. This book light does not meet either criterion. The light is dim and unfocused and it needs constant adjustment. I had high hopes for it but it just doesn't do the job.

Contrary to some other reviewer's experiences, I have found this to be the best reading light I've used. It has plenty of light for BOTH pages, until the batteries start to die, at which point, replacing them is EASY and quick! I bought this light for my daughter, and since she doesn't have to worry about waking anyone, I constantly borrow it from her. I need to buy one of my own. It is the one I reach for. I have 6 different lights and this is the one that has the easiest battery changes, the most light, and lasts the longest. IF it does happen to need adjusting, it's very easy to do so! The swivel head along with the hinged arm allow you to put the light exactly where you need it quite easily too. I don't understand the criticism of previous reviewers, as this has been a superior light to any I've used, and the price is right!

Not Enough Light,

I was not happy with this light either. The light is not bright enough for me and it seems to be getting dimmer and dimmer the more that I use it.
It's awkward trying to keep it clipped to the book too. I'm in search of a better book light!

did not survive battery change,

Its light was okay, although it could not quite cover an entire page of a book. The main problem is it's too shabby to survive a battery change--so you will get just 40 hours of use before it runs out. Also, finding 3V Lithium batteries is not easy.
