Review
Clocking in at almost two hours that you never want to end, My Little Bride is simply just what Korean romantic comedy needs at a time of trite formula and My Sassy Girl rip-offs. As the second biggest domestic film of 2004, itshows its right to be there in spite of a slightly offbeat story and change of pace from your average film of the genre, which could have disagreed with your common viewer. Kim Ho-joon has crafted an infectious debut that knows what the viewer wants, gives it to us for almost the entire running time, and quickly zips through the required melodrama in breakneck speed, while sprinkling some drama throughout the film. College wanna-be playboy Park Sang-min arrives home to meet his childhood friend Boeun, now a fifteen year old girl in high school, who s also been called home for an important family matter. Boeun s grandfather started a friendship with Sang-min s grandfather years ago during war, and before Sang-min s grandfather died, they agreed to have their children marry. A problem arose after the death because they both had sons, so Boeun s grandfather decided to pass down the pact to the next generation, so he could keep his promise with his friend when he meets him in death. Boeun s grandfather, allegedly on his deathbed, gets the two families to agree, and springs it on Sang-min and Boeun to their dismay, and they immediately refuse. Soon, out of guilt and promise, they do get married, but between Boeun s high-school life and Sang-min s not-so-surprising position, they ve somehow got to figure out how to live with each other. The fun all seems to start when Boeun is referred to as a girl, and she claims that in the old days, women her age would be married by that time. What a perfect prelude to grandfather s question. While it may seem like taboo to match a college student up with a fifteen-year-old girl, especially when the guy initially seems borderline perverted, the naivity of most of the relationship is one of the more endearing qu --http://www.acdrifter.com/Asian-Movie-Review/102/My-Little-Bride.html

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable and quite fun!, August 13, 2008
I've been watching more and more gems coming out of Korea and so far, in terms of romantic comedies, there hasn't been one that really has disappointed me.

"My Little Bride" is such a film that could have gone wrong but fortunately works itself out to be an enjoyable film.

The storyline for "My Little Bride" focuses on a 16-year old girl named Boeun. She's a typical teenager that studies hard, has a crush on the high school baseball pitcher and enjoying life as a teen.

For Sangmin, he's a university student who makes the travel back home to Korea and is greeted by Boeun, who he has always treated like a little sister.

Upon his return, the two learn than Boeun's grandfather promised Sangmin's grandfather that their kids would marry.

Unfortunately, both children were men, thus the promise was carried on to the father's children and thus, the parents of Boeun and Sangmin have agreed to have their children marry each other.

As expected, both children does not accept the marriage (especially since Boeun is a young, high school teenager) but when the grandfather fakes his sickness as near death, the two decide to honor their grandfathers wish and get married.

Thus the story of Sangmin and Boeun and how they live together as husband and wife, how Boeun continues her high school life while trying to get close to her baseball playing friend and maintaining a marriage that she keeps secret.

As for Sangmin, he seems to honor the marriage but what can he do, since the marriage was forced and Boeun, has her own teen life.
What I enjoyed about "My Little Bride" is how the story progresses and how we see both characters grow and how they look at each other differently.

Without giving too much away,I'm quite satisfied how this film was written. It was written in a way that you don't get to disturb about the age difference between the two main characters. Both Sangming and Boeun are very likeable characters.

It's definitely a romantic comedy that I found very entertaining. You're greeted with several characters from parents of Sangmin and Boeun, to also their friends and they each add something special to the storyline.

As for the DVD (note: I am reviewing the Edko HK released version), the video quality was pretty good but I was definitely happy with the audio since DTS ES and DD Surround EX was included.

Although, not a film known for special effects, it's great to find a DVD that includes those choices.

As for special features, the DVD features the theatrical theater, TV spot, music videos, photo gallery and cast filmographies.

There are two music videos which include the music video sung by Moon Geunyoung who plays Boeun but unfortunately, the quality is not so great.
"My Little Bride" is definitely an entertaining film.

While it's not so great to other fun romantic comedies such as "Please Teach Me English" to the ultra popular "My Sassy Girl", "My Little Bride" is definitely a movie that seems to have been created for the teenage to young adult crowd. And if Korea's teen movies, are like this, then I'm definitely going to watch more.

Although you enjoy the characters in the movie, there's only so much you can get on the romantic side of the film due to the age difference of Sangmin and Boeyung.

Boeun's character is easily believable as a teen who got married. Sangmin is a bit more harder to sympathize with.

As a college student who looks like he can date a lot of women, can he actually fall for a young teen?

To me, it's hard to picture and to understand but the truth is that there are men like that.

This is where the movie could have been worse but the directory and the storytelling does make you understand these two and perhaps, how age has no boundaries when it comes to love.

So, it's easy to say that this is one of those movies that may entertain viewers or put them off.

I enjoyed "My Little Bride" and found the film to be fun and an interesting take on arranged marriages, especially marriage between people of different age groups. Check it out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Korean film, August 22, 2007
This movie is funny and cute without being trite. It follows Boeun and Sangmin as they marry for her grandfather's sake. There's lots of comedy as Boeun tries to juggle a husband and a boyfriend while keeping this hidden from the school.

A must see if you love Korean comedies!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, clean, innocent fun!!!, December 10, 2007
This movie is so sweet and the actors are so perfectly cute! I gave it to a friend who has seen it 11+ times already! I've seen it 5 times myself. This movie introduced us to the melodramatic but comedic and highly enjoyable world of K-Drama! Loved it!
