I've been watching more and more gems coming out of Korea and so far, in terms of romantic comedies, there hasn't been one that really has disappointed me.

"My Little Bride" is such a film that could have gone wrong but fortunately works itself out to be an enjoyable film.

The storyline for "My Little Bride" focuses on a 16-year old girl named Boeun. She's a typical teenager that studies hard, has a crush on the high school baseball pitcher and enjoying life as a teen.

For Sangmin, he's a university student who makes the travel back home to Korea and is greeted by Boeun, who he has always treated like a little sister.

Upon his return, the two learn than Boeun's grandfather promised Sangmin's grandfather that their kids would marry.

Unfortunately, both children were men, thus the promise was carried on to the father's children and thus, the parents of Boeun and Sangmin have agreed to have their children marry each other.

As expected, both children does not accept the marriage (especially since Boeun is a young, high school teenager) but when the grandfather fakes his sickness as near death, the two decide to honor their grandfathers wish and get married.

Thus the story of Sangmin and Boeun and how they live together as husband and wife, how Boeun continues her high school life while trying to get close to her baseball playing friend and maintaining a marriage that she keeps secret.

As for Sangmin, he seems to honor the marriage but what can he do, since the marriage was forced and Boeun, has her own teen life.
What I enjoyed about "My Little Bride" is how the story progresses and how we see both characters grow and how they look at each other differently.

Without giving too much away,I'm quite satisfied how this film was written. It was written in a way that you don't get to disturb about the age difference between the two main characters. Both Sangming and Boeun are very likeable characters.

It's definitely a romantic comedy that I found very entertaining. You're greeted with several characters from parents of Sangmin and Boeun, to also their friends and they each add something special to the storyline.

As for the DVD (note: I am reviewing the Edko HK released version), the video quality was pretty good but I was definitely happy with the audio since DTS ES and DD Surround EX was included.

Although, not a film known for special effects, it's great to find a DVD that includes those choices.

As for special features, the DVD features the theatrical theater, TV spot, music videos, photo gallery and cast filmographies.

There are two music videos which include the music video sung by Moon Geunyoung who plays Boeun but unfortunately, the quality is not so great.
"My Little Bride" is definitely an entertaining film.

While it's not so great to other fun romantic comedies such as "Please Teach Me English" to the ultra popular "My Sassy Girl", "My Little Bride" is definitely a movie that seems to have been created for the teenage to young adult crowd. And if Korea's teen movies, are like this, then I'm definitely going to watch more.

Although you enjoy the characters in the movie, there's only so much you can get on the romantic side of the film due to the age difference of Sangmin and Boeyung.

Boeun's character is easily believable as a teen who got married. Sangmin is a bit more harder to sympathize with.

As a college student who looks like he can date a lot of women, can he actually fall for a young teen?

To me, it's hard to picture and to understand but the truth is that there are men like that.

This is where the movie could have been worse but the directory and the storytelling does make you understand these two and perhaps, how age has no boundaries when it comes to love.

So, it's easy to say that this is one of those movies that may entertain viewers or put them off.

I enjoyed "My Little Bride" and found the film to be fun and an interesting take on arranged marriages, especially marriage between people of different age groups. Check it out!

This movie is so sweet and the actors are so perfectly cute! I gave it to a friend who has seen it 11+ times already! I've seen it 5 times myself. This movie introduced us to the melodramatic but comedic and highly enjoyable world of K-Drama! Loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Korean film, August 22, 2007

This movie is funny and cute without being trite. It follows Boeun and Sangmin as they marry for her grandfather's sake. There's lots of comedy as Boeun tries to juggle a husband and a boyfriend while keeping this hidden from the school.

A must see if you love Korean comedies!

I have rented this movie so often that the staff of the library have ordered me to buy it for myself. It is great to lighten up anyone's mood. The main characters have been brought up to be very close to each other, and are tricked by their grandfather/stand-in grandfather to marry so that he can face his best friend in heaven when the grandfather dies. The issue: the girl is only 16 years old. Thrown in some quirky personalities, the school heart-throb, a strategically placed internship, and some queen-bee types and you have My Little Bride. It can brighten up your most dreadful of moods so if you like romantic comedies, or just need cheering up, this is the film for you!

After learning that his "grandfather," actually an old friend of the family, is dieing, Sangmin hurries home from his study abroad. However, although the situation seems quite dire, Sangmin seems to have really missed the sight of Korean women so he scopes out every pretty one that walks by. Noticing a pretty high school girl, Sangmin places his mobile phone on the floor to get a shot up the girl's skirt. However, instead of taking the situation lightly, the girl kicks the phone at Sangmin. The girl turns out to be Seo Boeun a young fifteen-year-old girl with whom Sangmin had grown up and with whom, despite their seven-year age difference, he had been quite close.

Making the standard statements about how nice Boehun has grown, Sangmin and Boehun make their way to her family home where her grandfather, Sangmin's family friend, her parent's and Sangmin's parents await. There they learn that Boehun's grandfather had promised Sangmin's grandfather that their children would be married, however, because they only had boys, the responsibility of marriage falls on Sangmin and Boehun's shoulders and hilarity ensues...or not.

Boehun and Sangmin are of course quite against the marriage, but do it anyway to please the old man's wishes. Skipping out on a honeymoon to Jeju Island to spend some time with her base playing kim bap, Korean sushi, loving does her best to avoid Sangming. However, after they move in together, their relationship blossoms and they begin to feel affection for each other, but of course they must keep it a secret and this, and many of the other parts of the film, fall into cliché of the typical Korean romantic Comedy.

While My Little Bride is a heaping bowl of saccharine sludge, It does win a few points for starring Moon Geun-young, who with her energetic performance and highly expressionistic face adds a few bright points to an otherwise boring film.

5.0 out of 5 stars A sweet comedy., September 21, 2009

This is a highly amusing film about an arranged marriage between a teen age high school student and an college age playboy that have grown up together with the young man as an "older brother" for the girl. The two are forced to marry because they believe they are required to fulfill the girl's grandfather's dying wish. The grandfather is not really dying but knows that the young man and girl do belong together and uses the "terminal illness" ruse to achieve this goal. He had taken care of the young man's family after their patriarch, who was his best friend passed away; before his friends death, the two had pledged to have their children marry. Both families had sons however so that the pledge was then passed down to their grandchildren. Although both the young man and the girl are dead set against marrying and go through some hilarious bumps in the road after the wedding, their relationship ultimately develops into a real love The main characters are very likable with the young man realizing his feelings of love before the girl does. Although not quite at the level of "My Sassy Girl", it is a fun filled romp.

This is the cutest movie I have watched in a long while. My Little Bride is a winner!
Unless you know a little about Asian culture, My Little Bride might shock you. Who would allow their 15 year old daughter to get married and live with a man while she is still in high school? The movie is done very tastefully though, and so cute. I reccommend this to people of all ages.

It's a typical boring romance movie. Unless you are the fan of the actor or the actress of this movie, you are not going to like it. I can picture some young preteen might enjoy this one though. I think the price of this DVD is a bit high. Better rent than buying this dvd.
