MLP Friendship Is Magic is great for the whole family.

I saw both DVDs as soon as I got it in the mail.

The third season has Twilight Sparkle and her pony pals continuing to explore the magic of friendship in 13 episodes.

Highlights include the 2 part premier has Twilight and her friends travel to the Crystal Empire after a 1000 year absence.

In Keep Calm And Flutter On, Princess Celestia assigns Fluttershy to reform Discord (Voiced by John DeLancie) from his evil ways to good. Chaos ensures in a hilarious way.

Spike At Your Service has Applejack saving the little dragon from a Timberwolf. Spike decides to repay the debt by serving her forever as a personal servant due to his dragon code.

The season finale Magical Mystery Cure has lots of musical numbers thanks to composer Daniel Ingram has some incredible songs. Twilight has to find a way to reverse their friends cutie marks and in the process of saving her friends she evolves into an Alicorn making her the newest princess in Equestria.

Extras include 2 sing along songs (A True True Friend & Ballad Of The Crystal Empire)

Highlights of the cast & staff panel from the show at the 2013 San Diego Comic Con.

Plus a printable map of Equestria.

PC & Printer Required.

For laughs, excellent music, great voice acting, I highly suggest the show.

This season has so many great moments! Great episodes, awesome comedy, and of course all of the great characters. Anyone that says this season was disappointing is because they're still whining about the season finale. Don't listen to them, this season is amazing. If you love ponies, buy this!

The Greatest Brand Revival EVER!

It's been quite a while since I've seen a cartoon that I actually became emotionally invested in and by a long time I mean like 10 years. XD For those of you who grew up with Saturday morning cartoons you know what I'm talking about: Pokemon, Yugioh, Medabots, Ed Edd and Eddy, etc 90s cartoons, which in my opinion have become almost non-existent nowadays in terms of quality of dialogue, background music, character personality and such. Heck, don't get me wrong I've tried to get into some of the new cartoons nowadays like Adventure Time and Regular Show and others but they all lack character depth and audience attachment, the what I call the "relate-ability factor". Sure they are cool characters, but I don't really find myself caring for them as much the jokes are super random for my taste, some plain stupid, and others I'm like, what? In short the humor is based off forced sarcasm or plain meanness. I just watch and get a laugh that's it. Then there are those once in a blue moon cartoons like Friendship is Magic that truly make you wonder what happened to cartoons as of late. This is how a cartoon should be done.

The best way I could describe Friendship is Magic is like a perfect blend of anime, 90s cartoons, with a hint of disney. For me characterization depth is a worth it's weight in gold and quite frankly the ponies have got it in fact the whole cast has it, try to wrap your head around that. As a college dude, that's now a senior this cartoon made feel like that 10 year old boy who watched Pokemon for the first time in awe.

It amazes me how the characterizations of the mane 6 are so lifelike it's almost as though they were real girls.

I have loved every single episode of Friendship is Magic. Season three is just as humorous, beautiful, and engaging as the first two; it's a bit sad that there are only 13 episodes but I wouldn't miss any of them for anything! The songs are fantastic as always and in this season, we see how far our cherished characters have come since the Elements of Harmony brought them together, which only makes the story so much better and the previous episodes more enjoyable. I loved the season finale and am excited to see the magic of friendship explored on a whole new horizon. This guy gives My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Season 3: 10/10.

Not as good as seasons 1 and 2 or even the recently started season 4. While a few episodes like Too Many Pinkie Pies and Magic Duel I thought to be just okay it did have many wonderful episodes in this season like Wonderbolt Academy, Stay Calm and Flutter on, Just For Sidekicks, Sleepless in Ponyville and Magical Mystery Cure to name a few. Think interesting this time around they packaging lists the episodes on the outside back of the case rather than inside like the first two seasons. The inside map of Equestria is most interesting. Think the comic con bonus section on this set was much more interesting than on the previous season. Only took a star off because the season was so short and that some of the episodes didn't meet in my opition the standards of most of the Friendship is magic.

Season 3 Rating: 3.5/5. DVD Release Rating: 3/5

This DVD Release: 3/5
For the second time in a row, Hasbro or ShoutFactory or someone has decided to presumably save money by releasing a DVD with the bare minimum of special features. In my opinion, DVD special features are almost as important as the content itself, since there are so many other formats to buy just the show (and in much better quality than DVD's 720x480 resolution). Season 1's DVD had *excellent* commentary tracks for several of the episodes. They were fascinating and hilarious. But I guess for Season 2 and 3 they couldn't be bothered to get some of the cast and/or crew to gather together for a day and record some commentaries. It's truly disappointing, because DHX (the animation studio that produces the show) is so involved with the fanbase, and we the fans LOVE behind the scenes stuff.

This does include a SDCC panel as a special feature which is pretty entertaining. But commentary tracks in general offer an entirely different experience that essentially doubles the watchability and provides fascinating insight into what goes into making an episode. I was really, really hoping that Season 2's lack of commentaries was a fluke, but no; it seems that probably all future releases will be commentary-less.

Now on to the review of the show itself: 3.5/5
Season 3 definitely has some rough patches, but there are still some great episodes in this season. The worst part about it is that it's only 13 episodes long. Talk of season 3 always seems to cause controversy, especially regarding the last episode of the season where a major change takes place that could have negatively affected the series if handled poorly by the showrunners (except it didn't; it was handled excellently in Season 4).
