My Little Pony Mermaid Pony Playset

This does have some drawbacks but it is good solid fun for young kids. It plays two tunes (my little pony theme and a caribbean theme), has castle horn sounds, and has a rotating swing set at the top of the castle. It also lights up. All are controlled with the same single button. So you will have to push multiple times if you want to, e.g., move the rotating swings.

But it has some heavy drawbacks that could very much frustrate younger kids:

- Ponies are top heavy with the tail and fall over easily - whether in the set or on their own. Nor do they really sit in anything easily. Although they have the hole in the bottom to help keep them on pegs on various items on the playset, they don't stay in the pegs and fall over easily. Not even I, as the parent, could get them to stay. I could barely get them to stand on their own. And well, they have hollow arms which is kind of disturbing, actually.

- The seal that comes with the set has a peg hole in the bottom so he will stay on items. However, if you buy the companion ponies and their friends separately (e.g., the one with the dolphin), the friends do NOT have pegs. We bought the pony with the dolphin and the dolphin doesn't sit in ANYWHERE. He just flops over stupidly.

- If you put the ponies in the rotating swings, they tend to flop over and block the thing from working (catch on a piece of the castle). The set makes horrible noises when that happens.

- The shell sits in a peg and is very stiff to open - trying to pry it open usually results in knocking it off of the peg, which frustrates my 7 year old.

I have a very patient kid and she becomes easily frustrated with this set. Things don't stay in place, fall off, don't work or aren't compatible with all accessories, etc. But it does have good play value in that it moves, plays music, etc.

We got this gift for my daughter for Christmas - it is a great toy! She enjoys all the little things she can do with her mermaid pony. I do caution that there are several VERY small pieces, but we took those out as they have no real use either. Also, I do wish it came with more than one mermaid pony. Those mermaids are hard to find! But, overall, it is a great toy that has provided a lot of entertainment already! Would definitely recommend at the right price (the regular price is a bit steep).

My daughter received this for Christmas and really loves it. There is so much for her to do. The ponies can surf, swing, ride the carousel, swing in the hammock, or chill out in the clamshell. The only drawback I see is that the hammock doesn't stay on very well. It is a little loud, but mine wasn't awful. We would like it if the music lasted a little longer. The ponies don't get much of a ride with a single push of the button. Overall, we will be playing with this for a long time.

My five-year old daughter is a huge MLP fan. She could not wait for the mermaid castle to arrive. After opening the castle, my daughter pressed the button to make the swings move--the sound was so loud she was frightened. I have tried to place foam pieces and duct tape over the speaker, but the sound can still be heard (very loudly) from the track for the swings. There is no volume control button. My daughter still loves the castle, but will not use the motion or sound function and made me remove the batteries so she did not accidentally press it.

My daughter loves MLP and she was so excited when she unwrapped this as a Christmas present. This year I relented - I usually buy more sustainable, classic toys however now she is 4 it seems all the bright commercial toys are definitely becoming more in favour.

Miss 4 got frustrated because not all the parts worked that great or stayed where they were supposed to. The hammock falls out, the baby seal doesn't sit in the merry-go-round seats, the surfing section is a bit of a let down and only 1 my little pony mermaid is included and this doesn't fit into the little garden swing. I was getting frustrated myself when I was playing with it!! How can these things not be thought about when designing a toy? Doesn't it go through testing?

However, Miss 4 has found ways to get around these issues, has great fun and will continue to play with it for months. She loves the baby animals and the sea shell/clam. I'm just disappointed more attention to detail wasn't paid to the design of product.

This is an amazing toy for children of all ages. I highly suggest it. It is a beautiful and well designed MLP toy that provides hours and hours of fun.

We love this castle! The music and spinning parts are great! My 2 year old son can't even get enough of it! I think it'll hold up pretty well! My only complaint is that the hammock will NOT stay on. I might have to glue it or just "hide" it so my children stop getting mad that they can't use it.

I just bought this toy at Marshall's for $20. That's a reasonable price-don't pay more than that. I like it because it's from the older MLP style and not the new weird-looking MLP being sold at Target and Toys R Us.

this product i received in great condition. its very durable, but i seen it after my purchase after paying this price. i found it in another retail store for half the price. im not to thrilled but our grandaughter was. this was a birthday gift for an 9year old grandaughter.wo really loves the ponys alot

I bought it for my granddaughter because she wanted it for her birthday. I was really disappointed in the quality and lack of actual educational value. It really doesn't do much at all. I feel it was a piece of junk for a high priced toy.
