5.0 out of 5 stars One of her best albums...., January 3, 2003

Sweet, sassy, and one powerful voice. The songwriting skills of Tony Hatch and Jackie Trent come together with the magnificent voice of Petula Clark on this great album. I wore out Auntie's "My Love" LP at 7 years old but later in life was able to buy her a CD replacement AND get it signed by Petula Clark, herself, as well. Petula told me that she never really liked "My Love"...too bubble-gum for her...but at 7 years old, it truly appealed, and I have always loved it. I would alternate between playing the "My Love" album and "The Sound of Music" movie soundtrack LP, so you know that it is held in extremely high esteem. The great thing about "My Love" is that all of the songs are exceptional...a rare thing to love all tracks on a record. Petula Clark is truly under-rated. She is, in my opinion, one of the greatest female singers of all time.

I grew up listening to this on record and putting on shows with my sisters for my parents. I'm so glad this is finally on CD! Best song is Life and Soul of the Party, baby!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pet's best original LP, March 27, 2000
This review is from: My Love (Audio CD)
Issued in 1966, at the height of Pet Clark's recording success in America, the "My Love" album is a fine example of pop styles in the mid 1960s. Writer/producer Tony Hatch penned most of the tunes, which are instantly likable, without being too cute. "Hold On To What You've Got" is a highlight, with somewhat of a folk flavor. The rockabilly "Life and Soul of the Party" was nearly the first single. Randy Newman's "I Can't Remember" could have been a radio hit. "The Thirty First Of June" finds Pet in sophisticated Sinatra vein. Her remake of the Beatles' "We Can Work It Out" is stunning in its simplicity. Clark performed "Just Say Goodbye" on nearly every American TV variety show, a song that shows off her voice. Furthermore, the bouncy hit singles, "My Love" (A US #1) and "A Sign of the Times" (The current song in Target adds) remain welcome oldies station hits. Not all of Pet's original studio albums are up to the lofty standards of "My Love".
