Format: Paperback
In the voice of a child, My Mommy Wears Army Boots! by Verna Harps Morrow, is told. She begins by telling of all the sacrifices her mother has to make to train hard for the military, but she always makes time for her family on the weekend. Even though the child is sad, she accepts the fact of her mother going to war to fight for what they believe in. Instead of being sad, she and her little sister pray for the safe return of their mother. They know she will be fine and can handle it all because she wears army boots.

This is a cute little story with some nice illustrations. Something I did not like was every word began with a capital letter. When writing for children, we need to be mindful because they learn from everything they see. This would be a nice comfort to any child whose parent is away serving their country.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful By Sandra McLeod Humphrey on June 5, 2007
Format: Paperback
This book is all about "old-fashioned" American values--values of loyalty to both family and country. It is written with love for both family and country by a young woman serving in the military during "Desert Storm" and the words are honest and real. The illustrations complement the text very well and this was a thoroughly enjoyable (and "uplifting") read. Highly Recommended!
