especially good for foster to adopt children,
By Sheila Taylor "book addict" (michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: My New Family: A First Look at Adoption (Paperback)
This book is great because it actually talks about the birth mother and how she might not be able to care for a baby. It also talks about foster parents. I like the fact that is shows adults and children both having sad moments. Some books are so sugary sweet that they paint an unrealistic portrait of what adopted children feel.
If I were a wealthy lady, I would buy a copy for every child who goes through our Department of Human Services Child Protection department. I've since bought copies for other people I know who have adopted after fostering.

The book is a smart look at adoption, able to be read to a child to understand why he/she was adopted.

This is a great book for families created by adoption, or for information to children that want to know what adoption is about. I would rate this book for children 7 and up, it was a little over the heads of my 3 and 4 year olds. We'll save it and bring it out later!
